Updated Beginner’s Guide | 2023 – Albion Online
Albion Online is one of the better MMORPGs out there that has a focus on its economy and PVP aspects. With the new Asia server appearing some people might be wondering if this game is worth the shot, so we’ll show you what you can do in the game for people who want to check it out and for beginners!
Starting Steps
Albion Online starts you off with a beginner tutorial island, when you get out of the tutorial island you’ll be in a starting town. It’s a great way to get your bearings but if you really want to see the people and do all the activities you’ll need to make your way to the Main Cities dotted around the map.
You can check what the main cities are by pressing the M Key and looking for the big city icons that has a glowing light over it like the one on the image below.
Just remember that in Albion, banks aren’t connected! So if you’ve placed things in your bank in a town, remember to take what you need and bring it to the city. Also avoid zones that have a red diamond next to it because those are the zones that have PVP enabled.
What to do?
The first thing you should do in Albion Online is to grind your combat levels. You can do so by just running around zones and fighting mobs that appear on in the overworld. You can also go to solo dungeons, which are these rocks with a green glow shown above.
These dungeons often have a linear design that has mobs a boss and treasure chests filled with goodies.
Don’t worry about having the right build early on since these mobs and solo dungeons are designed to be done with any build. Just get a feel of the combat and get some silver and items.
Each zone has a Tier, from Tier 3 to Tier 8. A zone will only spawn enemies of a tier so a Tier 4 zone will spawn a Tier 4 enemy. Make sure to know what Tier you should be fighting by checking your Reaver level is by checking the skill tree with the B – Key. So a Journeyman Reaver will be good at fighting in Tier 3 zones.
Crafting and Refining and Gathering is a big part of Albion Online and if you want to you can jump into that part of the game at the start. This means gathering resources and crafting certain items, selling them in the market to other players, or even just selling the resources!
Just make sure that you have the skills needed to craft certain items, which again you can check by pressing the B-key.
Like monsters, zones tiers also effect the tier of resources you can get in the zones, so if you want to get higher tier resources be sure to go to higher tier zones.
Player Versus Player
If you want to try your hand in PVP in Albion Online there’s a couple of ways you can do so as a beginner. The first one are Corrupted Dungeons which like Normal Solo Dungeons you can find around the map. They look like rocks with a golden glow and red markings over it like the one shown above.
When you select the dungeon you can pick what difficulty, for new players you can go for the Hunter Difficulty so that it’s not full-loot PVP which means you don’t drop all your gear when you die. Also make sure to look for these dungeons in Blue or Yellow zones.
If you want to jump straight into PVP you can do so by clicking the Activities button on the upper right and pick “Arena.” The Arena is a 5v5 PVP arena that has Silver and Fame rewards if you win. Going into the nitty gritty of mechanics and strategies in Arena is not in the scope of this article so we won’t go into detail.
Congratulations you now know how to get started in Albion Online, now go out there and try the game out yourself!
