What happens when you run out of ammo trying to kill the monsters on the island? Do you run away? Cower in fear? Accept your death? If you answered with any of the three, then you are wrong.
Now, the next thing you should do is bring out your melee weapon and continue the fight. These things never run out of ammo, and you can use them to hack and slash or pummel the monsters as a last resort.
That’s why in this guide, we’ll show you how to find all of the 16 melee weapons in Sons of the Forest!
Sons Of The Forest – All 16 Melee Weapon Locations
Tactical Axe and Utility Knife
When you start the game, you will be given the Tactical Axe and the Utility Knife. You will have to open the Emergency Pack first, as the Tactical Axe is in there. But don’t worry, the game will show you how.
Crafted Spear
The Crafted Spear is one of the first weapons you can craft in the game. To craft it, you will need 1 Duct Tape, Utility Knife, and 2 Sticks.
Crafted Club
Another weapon you can craft in the game is the Crafted Club. This weapon requires 1 Rope, 1 Skull, and 1 Stick in order to be crafted.
Crafted Torch
An easy weapon you can use is the Crafted Toch. Now it requires 1 Cloth and 1 Stick to be crafted. It may not be much at first, but lighting it on fire will definitely hurt some monsters.
Bone
When you don’t have time to craft weapons, you can always pick up a Bone off the ground. These Bones can be found everywhere on the island, but they are very prominent in caves.

Machete
In one of the beaches on the island, you can find another melee weapon called the Machete. This sharp blade can be found sticking out of a deflated boat.
Slingshot
In a frozen lake near the snowy areas, you can find a Slingshot being held by one of the dead bodies that are in the frozen lake.
Shovel
The next weapon will require a bit of diving in water in a cave, which is why you will need a Rebreather (as well as some Rope). The water is too deep for you to swim without the Rebreather and you will no doubt drown without it, so do not attempt until you get the Rebreather.
Once you have the Rebreather, you can then go into the cave and dive in. You will eventually reach a deep part of the cave where you can see a hole that shows off some sort of facility. Before you do, you will see a dead body slumped against a rock with the Shovel on his person.

Modern Axe
The Modern Axe can be found in this camp out in the woods. The Modern Axe is found against the body of a dead soldier that is slumped against an open tent.

Guitar
If you want to smash some monsters in the head with the power of music, then the Guitar is a suitable weapon that you can find in an underground facility. With that said, you will need the Maintenance Keycard to access this area. Once you have it, go to the cave and head inside.
Inside the facility, head to the lounge area and you can find the Guitar on the bar counter here.
Chainsaw
If the power of music isn’t enough for you, then what about the guttural sounds of a Chainsaw? The Chainsaw can be found in the underground facility as well. All you have to do is head to the movie theater and you should find it in the body of a dead person, sitting on a beanbag chair.

Firefighter Axe
The classic Firefighter Axe can be found on this part of the island. But you will need the Shovel to dig up the entrance to where you need to go. This shouldn’t be a problem if you have been following this list.

Katana
The Katana is the noble blade of the Samurai, and you can also find it here on the island. Head to this location on the map and make sure you have the Maintenance Keycard with you.

Putters 1, 2, and 3
In the same location but in a different room, you can find a Putter. For those who aren’t aware, it’s also called a Golf Club, the infamous weapon that killed Joel Miller from The Last of Us (spoiler alert). Coincidentally, the Putter can also be found in the head of a dead body. Possibly a cheeky reference.

Stun Baton
The last weapon on this list is the Stun Baton. You can find it here on the map, directly in front of a waterfall. It’s hard to miss because it’s sticking out of the head of a skull.
