City Builder games have always been a big part of the gaming community and you’d be surprised on how huge this genre of gaming is. From games like Tropico that adds a bit more humor and satire to city building to the long standing Anno series where the games go through the many periods of human history. One of the games being Anno 1800, a time when Industrialism was at full swing and the modern day we know today was being shaped. When you first look at the store page for Anno 1800 you might feel lost with all the DLCs the page has to offer. What are these Season Passes? What do DLCs should I get? Why are there so many? I don’t have an answer for the last one but I can tell you what DLCs are worth their price, even more so with a sale!
1. Sunken Treasures
The first DLC you should try to get your hands on is Sunken Treasures. It gives you a lot of new content for the game as well as treasure hunting missions that have great rewards for your city-building career. It also adds a whole new map with dozens of islands to explore and build on! This DLC also includes the biggest island in the game so you can make the largest city you can ever make in the game!
2. New World Rising
The New World Rising DLC is part of the Season 4 Pass and it expands the new world map with a large northern part of the map now available for you to build big cities. It also adds new monuments like the Dam and Stadium. You’ll also get Tier 3 Artistas, a new population class in the game. The DLC also adds new quest lines and even production lines.
3. Land of Lions
The Lands of Lions DLC is part of the Season Pass 2 and adds a new map with African themed islands. The DLC includes new production lines, a new quest line to follow and even new population classes and monuments like the Research Institute.
4. Docklands
The Docklands is part of the Season Pass 3 and adds a new mechanic to the game, increasing the gameplay of harbors by making it a true bustling part of your city. You can add new parts and modules that have their own bonuses to the harbor.
5. High Life
If you want to add more to the End game of Anno 1800 then the High Life DLC is for you. Part of the Season Pass 3, this DLC adds skyscrapers into the game, adding investors and engineers into the game and making expanding to the skies possible!
6. The Passage
Considered a minor DLC, The Passage is till one that can add a lot of hours into your game with new quest lines, a unique snowy landscape to build on as well as new production chains. You also get Airships that move goods around and are so cool that you’ll forget you’re living in a frozen hellscape.
7. Tourist Season
The Tourist Season DLC is included in the Season Pass 3 and adds tourists to your cities. It adds a new population type, the tourists and they’ll want hotels and transportation systems. The DLC also adds modes of transports as well as cafes and hotels that need a lot of resources. It also includes the Iron Tower monument which can easily get all that tourist money!
8. Seeds of Change
The Seeds of Change is part of the Season Pass 4 and adds the Hacienda Mechanic into the game. A type of city that is more modular and is efficient at producing large numbers of food and goods. If you like modular production cities than this DLC is for you.
9. Empire of the Skies
The Empire of the Skies is part of the Season Pass 4 and it adds even more airships! This should already be enough to be an instant buy but it also adds much more. The new airships also include new airports and they can transport materials from city to city.
10. Bright Harvest
The Bright Harvest DLC is part of Season Pass 2 and adds tractors and silos to your farms. There’s a new Fuel station building as well that powers those tractors so that you can produce more stuff in your farms! If you really want to up your production of food for big cities then this DLC is for you.
11. Seat of Power
The Seat of Power is part of the Season Pass 2 and as you can see it adds a Palace to the game. The building is beautiful and is as big as an entire district! It’s also really expensive but it’s worth it since it adds new bonuses to your cities.
12. Botanica
Botanica is part of Season Pass 1 and it adds a new modular Garden building the Botanical Gardens. It boosts the attraction of your city and you can even get plants from every region of the game to display in that building. When you do so it adds bonuses that increases productivity.
