You can reach all sorts of different outcomes in quests when playing Atomfall because of the wide variety of choices. The game gives you a lot of freedom, and does not really force you to go down a path. This also applies to the ending of the game, as you can side with different NPCs. For some of these endings, you will need to extract a sample from Oberon. If you aren’t sure how to do this, we’ve got you covered. In this guide, we’ll show you all the steps you need to follow. With that said, let’s get into it!

How to Extract a Sample From Oberon

WARNING: Possible spoilers ahead!

There are some requirements you’ll need to complete so you can actually get to Oberon in Atomfall:

  • Unlock all doors that lead to the Interchange in Slatten Dale, Wyndham Village, Casterfell Woods, and Skethermoor
  • Turn on the central processor of the Interchange
  • Make sure that Data Stores Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta are powered up
  • Make sure to power up the central processor using the signal redirector
  • Pull the lever in the central processor.

This will allow you to enter Windscale Plant which will lead you to Oberon. Next, let’s take a look at all the steps you need to follow to extract the sample.

Make sure to also bring x2 Atomic Batteries for this task. You can find the batteries in the Oberon Dig Site too, but having them already in hand can save you time and effort.

Reach Oberon Dig Site

Once you enter the Windscale Plant, your goal is to reach the Oberon Dig Site. All you really need to do is go forward from here with the path being straightforward.

You’ll come across plenty of enemies here, so make sure you are prepared to fight your way through. Eventually, you’ll come across the large set of doors that you can interact with to enter the Oberon Dig Site.

Place Batteries In Extraction Drill

When you enter the Oberon Dig Site, your goal will be to enter the facility. This can be reached by going up the stairs on the left. Be careful though, as there are enemies and robots patrolling the area.

In case you do not have the Atomic Batteries, we’ll show you how to get them. Start by going to the office behind the reception desk of the facility. Over here, you should find the Dig Site Storeroom Keycard.

Exit the office and go to the Storeroom, which can be found near the Extractor Drill and control room. Use the key on the lock to open it. Inside, you’ll be able to find one Atomic Battery.

For the other battery, you can get it by killing the robots patrolling the dig site. The store room also has a Pneumatic Dispatch Tube that you can use to get Atomic Batteries if you have them in your stash.

Once you have the two Atomic Batteries, go to the nearby Extractor Drill room. Interact with the two terminals on either side of it and place the batteries inside.

Pull Sample Extractor Lever

After you’re done with the Extractor Drill, go to the nearby Control Room. Inside the control room, you should find two levers. Go to the one that says Sample Extractor Lever, and pull it.

The other lever is linked to a different ending, where you destroy oberon.

Pick Sample Cannister

When you activate the Sample Extractor, you can watch as the drill goes to the Oberon meteorite and drills a chunk out of it. It will place the chunk inside the grinder.

To pick up the sample, you’ll need to go to the Grinder, which can be found on one side of the Oberon Dig Site.

Reach the grinder and interact with the terminal in front of it. Here, you’ll be able to take the Meteorite Sample Cannister

With the sample in hand, simply exit the Oberon Dig Site so you can continue with whichever ending you opted for!

That’s everything you need to know about extracting a sample from Oberon in Atomfall. This choice is a bit more complicated than destroying Oberon, especially if you do not have the Atomic Batteries. But dealing with the robots should make it simple enough to accomplish. Make sure to do the next objective based on what your ally told you to do.
