Magic has always been a fickle thing when it comes to games with fantasy elements like Baldur’s Gate 3. It can either assist you or ruin your day entirely, especially if you’re trying to discretely get inside of a vault that houses countless of valuable artefacts that a novice shouldn’t be messing around with.
To keep most of what’s inside a surprise, we’ll refrain from divulging too much information regarding the loot. With that said, you still need to get in here for a main quest so expect at least one spoiler while you’re reading the guide!
How to Enter Sorcerous Sundries Vaults
Later on in the game, you’ll be tasked to go deep inside of Sorcerous Sundries for Gales quest “The Wizard of Waterdeep.” The shop is located in the Lower City of Baldur’s Gate, quite difficult to miss as it’s one of the largest buildings in the area. Since you’re breaking into a vault, make sure that you have someone in your party that has a high sleight of hand skill.
Talk to Tolna Tome-Monger inside of Sorcerous Sundries and ask her about forbidden books. Choose the dialogue option that talks about the Crown of Karsus and cajole her into giving you more information. She’ll tell you all about a key in the second floor room on the left side of the stairs that grants you entrance into the vault.
You’re not supposed to be in this room, so make sure that you cast greater invisibility while opening the door. Grab the Sorcerous Sundries Basement Chest Key on the desk and look at the shelves next to the door.
Check the shelves for an item called “Clasped Book” and interact with it. After doing that a portal will appear in the room which lets you access the actual vault. Quickly gather your party before someone sees you and jump right in. You’ll arrive in the Sorcerous Vault shortly.
And that’s how you get inside the Sorcerous Sundries Vaults in Baldur’s Gate 3. Solving the puzzles deep within is a different story, however. We do have a Sorcerous Sundries Vault guide if you need help getting the last page of the Necromancy Book of Thay.
