The Grymforge is one of the places you’ll need to go through in Baldur’s Gate 3 to get to the Shadow Cursed Lands. It’s a place of interest mentioned by Halsin when you first meet him. The only thing he knows is that you need to go to the Underdark to find it.
But how do you find a place that no other sane being would dare visit? Is there a safe route, or do you have to go through more fighting? Find out how you can get to the Grymforge by reading the rest of the guide below!
How to Get to the Grymforge
Technically, there’s two ways to get to the Grymforge:
- First is by using the Underdark Duergar Boat by the beach. You can get to that area rather safely by travelling south from the Myconid Colony. Using the mushroom circle from the Hag’s Teahouse is also a good option if you want to approach the beach from a different angle. This will put you at a slight disadvantage however if you plan on killing the Duegar guiding it. Mainly because they will have the high ground and will also be invisible.
- The second way is by discovering the entrance through the Shadow Cursed Lands, but that’s the long way!
If you’re coming from the Myconid Colony, then there’s a good chance that Glut went with you to avenge his circle. This is a completely different quest where you have to go to the same place to wipe out the Duergar. Once you see an abandoned hut to your right, go ahead and start sneaking.
There’s going to be an invisible Duergar inside of the hut waiting to ambush you should you fail to talk your way through Lurgan.
When you finish the fight or convince the Duergar that you’re needed at the Grymforge, descend to the shore. There’s also a waypoint nearby that you can use for later if you have unfinished business in the Underdark. Leave Glut for now if you took him with you, the boat can only hold so many people.
As you sail into the darkness, a patrol boat will catch up with you. Surprise! This is a Duergar checkpoint now. You can either Intimidate, Deceive, reach out to the Duergar’s parasite or push him into the water for fun. Given that this is your only way into the Grymforge, you may want to talk it out for now.
And that’s how you get to the Grymforge in Baldur’s Gate 3. Don’t forget to take Shadowheart with you. There are a few things down here that she may want to have a look at. Go further into the fortress if you want to use the Adamantine Forge!
