Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most anticipated games released this year, and it certainly didn’t disappoint games. The third installment in the series made by Larian Studios has captivated the heart of many gamers with its expansive open world and RPG elements. Moreover, the presence of classes and sub-classes allows payers to freely style their characters and explore the Forgotten Realms with them. This guide will focus on how to get Viconia’s Walking Fortress which is a legendary shield.
How to Get Viconia’s Walking Fortress
Location
This shield can only be obtained by playing through Shadowheart’s quest. Simply keep playing the quest until you reach the Lower City in Act 3. Once this area is accessible to you, there will be a quest to investigate the House of Grief.
The quest for this can be found under the Companions section in your mission log. Shadowheart’s quest is titled the Daughter of Darkness, so go ahead and set this quest as the active one.
Quest
As you enter the House of Grief, you will be required to explore it a little bit before coming into contact with Viconia. To avoid giving spoilers, we haven’t added much of the fight or the dialogue options in this guide except the few important ones. Once you encounter Viconia DeVir, your goal should be to defeat her since the shield can be looted from her body.
When fighting Viconia, you will also have to fend off her followers. Approach this fight with caution and make every move carefully since these enemies can use Necromancy spells which are very deadly. Hence we recommend having a healer in your party as well to counteract the damage spells. Once Viconia’s health is depleted, you can talk to her to trigger the final cutscene.
A dialogue choice appears in this interaction, but the result does not matter since it has been agreed unanimously by the entire party that Viconia will be killed. Despite this, Shadowheart will interrogate Viconia on the location of her parents, which Viconia will reveal in the Chamber of Loss that is up ahead. In the end, Shadowheart loses patience and stabs Viconia ending the cutscene.
Loot the Shield
Once the cutscene ends, you can loot Viconia’s body to obtain the shield. Viconia’s Walking Fortress is a very good shield that grants the wearer an additional three armor stats. Additionally, it also has an ability known as the Rebuke of the Mighty. This ability triggers when an enemy hits you for melee damage. The user then counterattacks to deal Force Damage which can knock the enemy prone.
The Handmaiden’s Mace is also a good weapon that can be obtained from looting Viconia. It can deal Poison damage which is great for slowly reducing the enemy’s health.
We hope that this guide to obtaining Viconia’s Walking Fortress was helpful to you. Let us know in the comments below if you have any questions or suggestions for future articles.
