Baldur's Gate 3 Split Screen Gameplay

Most people don’t know it nowadays, but back then in the times of old we had this magic called Split-Screen Co-Op. It’s been lost in the sands of time but luckily, there’s Larian Studios, one of the few, that still remembers it with Baldur’s Gate 3. In this phenomenal game, you can play Split-Screen Co-op with your friends, but a lot of people don’t know how to. It’s actually quite simple though!

In this guide, we’ll show you how to start Split-Screen Co-op in the game. We’ll also show you some tips on how to play co-op to get you started with it! Now, let’s see how you can do this archaic form of multiplayer!

How to Start Split-Screen Co-Op

In Baldur’s Gate 3, there’s a lot of ways you can play Multiplayer with your friends. From hosting a game over the internet or hosting one through LAN which is rare these days. Not as much rare as split-screen co-op though which surprisingly this game has!

Make your characters at the same time!

First off, you’ll need to have two controllers plugged into your PC. To start a Split-Screen Co-op game, you can do it at any point in the game. From the character creation menu to a game save that you already started.

If you start from the character creation menu, then you can create each of your characters like shown above. When you start from a loaded save, then you’ll have to assign which character the players want to control.

Not everyone needs to be in a cutscene, there’s loot to be found!

We highly suggest that you play Split-screen co-op with an extra wide monitor since it can get a bit claustrophobic if you don’t. Sadly, you can’t do split-screen with a controller and with a mouse and keyboard, just with two controllers. Perhaps in the future the developers will make it possible!

That’s how you start a split-screen co-op session in Baldur’s Gate 3. Now, go out there and try it out! Be sure to check out our guide on difficulty levels if you think you and your co-op partner needs things to be harder or easier!
