At one point while exploring the Moonrise Towers in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’re going to be faced with Balthazar’s protruding book puzzle. There’s a secret room hiding behind the bookcase the Moonrise Towers if you know the right combination to the protruding books in this room. Don’t randomly pull them because they’re trapped!
Moonrise Towers Protruding Book Puzzle
Upon entering this place, you’re going to notice the bookcases with books protruding out of them. One of these are the answers, but if you’re not careful you’ll trigger the traps each of them has from poisonous gas to summoning the dead. The correct book is right here as shown below. Interact with the Protruding Book and you’ll here the clicking noise from the Ancient Altar.
Check the body of the bloodied man on the floor nearby and you’ll find a heart. Place the heart on the Ancient Altar and that’s how you unlock the secret room of the Moonrise Towers. Inside, there will be a gilded chest that you can lockpick.
With Gale, you will have an additional option to work with while you’re here. Reconstructing the moonlantern with the Dead Pixie and you’ll get the lantern that comes with a summoning spell.
But if you choose to destroy the circle, you or Gale will get a very pleasant surprise in the form of a bonus in concentration checks.
