Baldur’s Gate 3 is at it again with massive updates that make it even harder to resist starting a new game.
With the release of Patch 5 a lot of stuff has been added, including a feature that many people have been asking for.
They’ve now added an official way of recruiting two companions together, which before you couldn’t.
New Way To Recruit Minthara & Halsin Together | Patch 5
Two companions in Baldur’s Gate 3 were impossible to recruit together due to their beliefs and their parts in the story.
Those two are Minthara and Halsin, both on opposite sides of the conflict in Act 1 of the game. After the gigantic Patch 5 though you can now recruit both of them.
Both of them though can only be recruited in Act 2 but you’ll have to do some things first in Act 1 so that it’s possible.
Knocking Out Minthara
First, somewhere in Act 1, you’ll get a choice of joining the Absolute or helping the Druid Grove. We’ll need to help the Druid Grove for this to work.
That means we’ll need to go to the Goblin Camp and defeat the 3 leaders. One of them is Minthara. You’ll just need to do the quest normally but instead of killing Minthara, make sure to knock her out.
To do this, you’ll need to activate the “Non-Lethal” attacks in the passive tab at the bottom of your screen.
Saving Halsin
Once Minthara is knocked out, you’ll then need to continue with saving Halsin from the goblin prison. Afterward, you can complete the main quests here until you reach Act 2 where you go to Last Light Inn as you head your way to Moonrise Tower.
Recruiting Minthara & Halsin
Once you’re in Act 2, you can do the recruiting quests for both Minthara and Halsin like normal. That means going to Last Light Inn and looking for Thaniel to recruit Halsin and going to Moonrise Towers to save Minthara.
That’s how you recruit both of them in the game. As of now, there are no new voice lines of them interacting but that’s alright. Most players are just happy that now there’s an official way of recruiting both of them without any exploits!

Tried it with knocking out Minthara first, then freeing Halsin. Still broken. Never able to eliminate all 3 goblin leaders this way. 🙁
