The Silent Library in Baldur’s Gate 3 has an area locked behind a puzzle in the form of a riddle. You’re probably here at wit’s ends trying to figure out the answer or you just cannot be bothered to spend way too much time on it. Either way, here’s the answer to the puzzle.
Silent Library Puzzle Guide
To enter the Silent Library, you just need to go through the barrier which is down to the right from the altar. Upon entering, you will immediately be inflicted with Silence. Clear the area by destroying the Librarian or the dark orb ball in the middle. Then kill the surrounding enemies and make your way to the iron gate or the Iron Portcullis.
Use lockpick to unlock the gate. Choose that option and you’ll have to roll the dice to get higher than 21. Using the Thieves’ Tool and a bit of luck, you’ll find your way into the inner room where the riddle is. In the middle is a platform that requires an item to solve the Riddle of the Night.
“What can silence the Nightsong?”
Go back out and look to the right side of the wall. This particular bookshelf has the answer, but there are traps installed, so disarm them first. Check the bookshelf and take the book “Teachings of Loss: The Nightsinger.”
Head back into the riddle room and place the book on it. This will unlock the door that leads to the big loot in the area. There’s a Spear of the Night, Dark Justiciar Half-Plate and in the Gilded Chest, the very rare Dark Justiciar Helmet.
