Here we will go over the Artifacts and Lightsones and try to explain them. After that, I’ll try to give a brief sample of the best lightstones combination for helping new players a bit.

Let’s get started.

Artifacts & Lightstones Explained – BDO

Artifacts are new pieces of equipment that got recently added in BDO. Every player now has two additional gear slots which are intended specifically for artifacts. These artifacts have even two extra open slots meant for Lightstones to be added inside of them too.

You cannot purchase or sell Artifacts. That means that you need to go out and go through different kinds of content in order to acquire them.

Lightstones are items that are infused inside Artifacts. There are 4 types of them. Fire, Earth, Wind, and Flaura. There is one additional too, the Irridescent Lightstone.

You can get Lightstones by defeating monsters, bosses, guild raids, etc. The versions you’ll get at first are known as Imperfect Lightstones. They need to be Purified by using Alchemy or speaking to any Grand Alchemist in any major city. It takes usually around 100 to 200 gold for it. The tricky part is that you require luck and some rng for getting a quality Purified of that Lightstone.

Another way of getting them is always through the market. You can sell your imperfect ones and just buy the Purified ones.

You can purchase Exctratction Tools from any blacksmith in any major city. You can do this in case you need to exchange your current Lightstone without destroying it.

You can also recycle your Artifacts if they are no longer necessary for you. You can use Alchemy to get Ancient Power Red Shards or Black ones, in the processing menu to be able to obtain 2 to 3 Purified Lightstones.

The combinations for Artifacts and Lightstones are really endless. There’s a list from which you can pick one for yourself on the official BDO website.

There’s one for lightstones on the official site as well.

A Good Tip for starting new players for building Artifacts and Lightstone combination is to go for the Defensive Lightstone Build. You can give one of these a try:

I hope this cleared some information up for you. At the end of the day, the way you build your combination of Artifacts and Lightstones is entirely up to your play style. Good luck!
