Having to choose which attribute to focus on in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can be a little bit daunting for those new to the game. While every attribute has a place in any of the characters, some are much stronger and beneficial than others. If you need a helping hand to guide you through the waters of this new RPG, then look no further!

What Attributes You Should Focus On in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Before we dive into each attribute within the game, here are a few key points you need to know beforehand:
- Every time you level up, you earn 3 points to spend on any attribute. The max level for each attribute is 99.
- These attributes also directly affect Secondary Stats such as Health, Attack Power, Speed, Defense, and Critical Rate.
- Attributes can also dictate the stats of certain weapons that you find throughout the game.
- You can earn Recoats, which can allow the player to shift the points invested into an attribute to another desired attribute.
Vitality

Vitality is the attribute that focuses on the overall health pool of a character. The higher the level of this attribute, the longer a character can stay active on the field. When maxed out, you can expect your character to have great survivability (which could come in handy during clutch situations). This is generally a good choice for any of the characters, making it a very safe option out of the five on this list.
Might

Might focuses on creating a lot of big boy damage when attacking. Similar to Vitality, you can get away with just focusing on Might. This is especially prevalent in the early game, when you are still figuring out your playstyle. You can also opt to focus on this attribute if you are great at doing dodges and parrying. If that is more your thing, you don’t have to worry about being hit, which makes Might a great choice.
Agility

Agility increases the speed of a character. With a high enough level for Agility, your character can attack more often or have a lot of turns during battle. Almost any character from the cast can benefit from having this maxed out. However, I believe characters that have skills that need some time to charge can make the most out of this attribute.
Defense

Defense, as the name implies, focuses on increasing the defensive capabilities of a character. At a decently high level, incoming damage from enemies can be greatly reduced. Just like Vitality, this can help characters stay longer in the fight. Pair this attribute with your resident support, and you can have them keep the team alive consistently. Additionally, the Defense attribute also increases your Critical Rate (although very little), which ties into the next one on this list.
Luck

The Luck attribute increases the success of using Critical Hits. Investing in this attribute can benefit characters that focus solely on dealing damage. You want to make sure that they hit high numbers consistently. Increasing your Luck to a very high level is a good option, even more so when you haven’t yet reached the maxed damage cap of 9999.
After going through all five, I would recommend putting most of your points on either Vitality or Might in the early acts of the game. The reason for this choice is the fact that these can help you get through and understand the starting mechanics. As you progress further (more gimmicky bosses, higher HP enemies, etc.), you can shift your focus to Luck and Agility. Agility, in particular, is great to help build up certain skills and abilities or just deal damage in general. Lastly, I wouldn’t say not to increase Defense. However, you can make it through most of the game without even relying on this attribute. So, if you want more use out of your points, I would opt to use them on the other ones instead.
