Exploring the Old World to record content is no easy feat in Content Warning, thanks to all the strange monsters and enemies that are eager to end you and your friends.

It sure would be nice to have a complete guide cataloging all these creatures and how to deal with them, right?

Well, that’s exactly what this guide is here for! We’ll take a look at all of the monsters you can find as you explore the Old World and how to best avoid getting killed by them.

Complete Monsters & Enemies Guide for Content Warning

Before we dive into each of the horrible monsters and enemies in this game, we want to give a shout-out to the game’s community.

More specifically, we want to give credit to “Neftali to” on Content Warning’s Steam Community for digging into the game’s files to reveal all monsters currently in the game and their internal names.

We’ll be using these internal names to refer to some monsters since not all monsters have an official public name yet!

The pictures of the datamined models also make it a lot easier to see what the enemies look like.

On that note, not all of the monsters revealed by datamining seem to actually be implemented yet. We won’t go over these unimplemented enemies, since nobody knows how they will behave yet.

With that said, let’s dive into how to deal with all the monsters and enemies in the game.

Barnacle

Barnacle

A round ball surrounded with barnacles and 4 tentacles. They are extremely dangerous but move somewhat slowly.

They are capable of slapping players with their tentacles, which deal massive damage. It can also suck in other monsters, items, and players before slapping them with the tentacles.

To make matters even worse, it can spit poisonous liquid that can damage and disorient players!

All in all, this abomination might be the hardest enemy type to deal with in Content Warning. If you or your teammates spot one, do everything in your power to stay far away from it.

Big Slap

Big Slap

Massive humanoid creature that, as their name implies, deals big damage with slaps. Getting hit by a single slap can kill a player, or at least leave them at death’s door!

They are somewhat slow when they haven’t detected a player, so your best way to deal with them is to hide. Do not approach them, ever.

Bomber

Bomber

A slow crawling monster that will throw explosives at any players they spot. Their accuracy is very poor, but the explosives can cover a wide area.

They’ll also jump toward players that get close enough, killing themselves with a kamikaze attack. This can be lethal to players, but it’s also rather easy to avoid.

As long as they don’t catch you by surprise, Bombers are fairly easy to ignore.

Gundog

Gundog

Walking robotic turrets that will fire at any players they spot. Their barrage of bullets deals low damage per bullet, but can quickly kill an unaware player.

Their robotic sounds and lights make them easy to spot, thankfully! Stay out of their sight and hide when they’re nearby. Wait until they leave before you get out of cover.

Ear

Ear

Four-legged creature that slowly walks around the place, has a gigantic ear for a head. As such, they’re easily attracted by any type of noise.

If they get close to a player, they will grab them and deal some damage during a short struggle.

You can avoid them by staying quiet, or drive them off by yelling at them when they are next to you.

Eye Guy

Eye Guy

A small bipedal creature with a large eye in the front, and two smaller eyes on their sides. They seem to stay in place unless aggroed, but their eyes give them excellent visibility all around them.

Their eyes are very sensitive, however, so even the smallest light can startle them. Avoid pointing at them with any light!

Once aggroed, they will chase down players and hit them for decent damage. Run away from their range and they will stop pursuing you.

Flicker

Flicker

A large floating spirit. They have a spherical body shape with one eye and two protruding arms, as well as a mass of tentacles instead of legs. Spawns randomly anywhere on the map.

Once you spot a Flicker, you should instantly leave the room they’re in. If you stay in the same room for long enough, the Flicker will cast a bright red light.

This leads to an unavoidable event where you’re forced to look at the red light, which ultimately results in your death.

In short, get away from these monsters as soon as you spot them in Content Warning!

Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden

One of the most unique monsters in Content Warning, the Iron Maiden won’t directly kill players right away. Instead, it will capture a random player first.

Then, it will present a tablet with a random captcha puzzle on it, which other players must solve. Successfully completing the captcha will release the captured player and make the Iron Maiden leave.

Failing to complete the captcha quickly, though, will result in the captured player’s death. Yet another reason for players to stick together, eh?

Jello

Jello

Slimy translucent bugs that try to capture players and drag them to more dangerous areas. They’re rather slow and deal no damage by themselves.

However, they’ll usually do their best to drag you toward Slurpers, which will definitely try to kill you.

As of this writing, it appears to be impossible to escape from their grasp. You just have to wait until they release you, praying that they leave you in a relatively safe spot.

Knif

Knif

A small child-like ghost that carries a knife, seems to spawn randomly near players. They will laugh eerily when they are nearby, but thankfully seem to only stay active for 30 seconds at a time.

When the Knif gets close enough to a player, they will dash and leap toward the player. This usually causes the Knif to tumble and fall, but will deal high damage if it hits a player.

The best way to avoid them is to stay mobile, using corners to your advantage. It’s also a good idea to bait their leaping attack, as they take a while to get back up after falling.

Larva

Larva

This creature looks like a centipede of sorts with two large arms. It usually moves quite slowly, but it seems to be able to pick up speed when chasing players.

Once it notices a player, it will grab them and throw them to another spot. If two players are together, it will throw the grabbed player toward the other player, damaging both.

Due to their dark gray skin, they can camouflage themselves very well with the environment. Nonetheless, they can be spotted thanks to their unique silhouette.

If you see one, do your absolute best to avoid getting anywhere close!

Mouthe

Mouthe

Small humanoid creatures with massive heads and huge mouths. They generally avoid getting too close to players, but they will try to approach lone players and scream at them.

Their deafening scream will prevent you from hearing other players until the round ends!

To avoid them, make sure that you always have at least one teammate with you. After all, Mouthes only approach players who are alone.

Slurper

Slurper

Starfish-shaped creatures that tend to stick to the ceiling, waiting to catch any unaware players who walk under them. Any player that gets captured will be slowly drained to death by the Slurper.

You can’t free yourself if you get caught, either!

However, players can free each other by throwing any items at the Slurper. Do be warned, though, that it will start trying to grab players again after a couple of seconds.

Snatcho

Snatcho

Similar to the Jello enemies, these humanoid lizard creatures can grab players and slowly drag them to more dangerous areas. They’ll also slowly whittle down the player’s health, unlike the Jellos!

Despite appearing very dangerous, they are even slower than Jellos. This makes them easy to run away from and also makes it very easy to free any captured players.

They will also run away from you if you point them with a flashlight, so they pose minimal threat.

Snail Zombie

Snail Zombie

The “standard” type for monsters in Content Warning, Snail Zombies are humanoid creatures that have a large snail instead of a head.

Considering they’re both a snail and a zombie, they’re extremely slow. You can easily avoid them by simply walking past them, and they won’t chase you for long either.

If you get close enough, though, they will grab you and deal very light damage before letting you go.

Not a big threat, but they can be annoying in large numbers!

Spider

Spider

A mutated spider, its body resembles a normal spider but it has a large round head with eyes. They shoot spider webs, as you might imagine, which can trap players.

Getting caught in a spider’s web will leave you open to being eaten by the spider, or killed by any other monsters in the area!

If you’ve spotted a spider nearby, be extra careful as you move. Keep an eye out for any web traps in the vicinity!

Whisker

Whisker

A humanoid figure with no arms and a whisk for a head. They charge in a straight line and have no ability to turn, so they’re easy to dodge. Just pretend they’re bulls and you’re all dressed in red!

Their presence is also made obvious thanks to the loud engine sound made by their whisk head. As such, they’ll rarely catch you off guard.
