Crystal of Atlan features a range of content that you can try out – which includes dungeons and quests. Most players will be trying to grind these out as much as they can so they can get the best gear and materials possible. However, you cannot farm infinitely in the game as content is often timegated courtesy of the energy system. The game features a confusing energy system – especially if you’re just starting out. In this guide, we will help you understand exactly how account energy works, so you can use it optimally. With that said, let’s dive in!
Account Energy Guide
After your character reaches Level 60 in Crystal of Atlan, you unlock the account energy system. You might be confused as to why you can see two types of energy with four different meters. In this guide, we’ll help breakdown how the system works and how you can utilize it.
It’s important to keep in mind that account energy differs from stamina in Crystal of Atlan. Our how energy and stamina works guide can help you understand how they work!
Energy Overview
In Crystal of Atlan, there are two types of energy:
- Normal Energy (Green)
- Energy that is used by each specific character
- Account Energy (Orange)
- Energy reserve that can be used by all characters on the account
So, you might be seeing that you have 840 account energy with only 140 green energy. This is because if you have a total of 6 characters, then the total account energy you have is 140 X 6 = 840.
Keep in mind that account energy does deplete if you use green energy on any of your characters – whether it be your main or your alt.
For example, let’s take a scenario where you have 335 Account Energy and you use 5 of the 140 green energy on a character. If you check from another character, the account energy will have gone down to 330.
However, if you use up all the account energy, it does not deplete the green energy of the other characters. You only use up green energy when you are using a particular character. This is useful and we’ll be going over how you can take advantage of it.
Additionally, if you use the Battery to replenish your energy, it will fill up both your green and account energy.

Energy Rewards Breakdown
The main difference between both energies is the rewards that you get for using them. If you use the green energy, you get higher tier rewards compared to using account energy.
You can check this out for yourself too by going into the rewards preview menu for any dungeon or quest. Over here, you can select the drop down menu and check the rewards you get normally, and for using account energy.
The yellow tier gear is the one that is worth getting, with the pink gear only useful if you’re earlier in the game.
So, by using account energy, the only really useful thing you can get are the Chaos Breaker Insignias. But even then, you can get much better Insignias in the game as you progress.

Additionally, Crystal of Atlan features a pity system. It allows you to get a guaranteed Epic Gear if you have not gotten one as a drop yet. If you use account energy, this pity meter will not fill up at all.
So, in most cases, using account energy is not worth it. However, we’ll go through some cases where using account energy is useful.

Where To Use Account Energy
We have seen how using account energy will lead to lesser tier rewards. So, when should you use account energy in Crystal of Atlan?
There are two ways in which we recommend using account energy:
- Using it to level up alt accounts
- Farming for insignia, epic shards and high XP dungeons.
Alt accounts in Crystal of Atlan play an essential role – as you can use them to actually make your main character stronger. But to do that, you must use alt accounts side by side and level them up.
This is where we recommend that you dedicate all your account energy to your alt account (yes, all 840 of it) after using up the alt’s green energy so that you can level them up as fast as possible.
Do not touch any other character, otherwise you might end up reducing the account energy. As we discussed before, spending all the account energy will not do anything to other characters’ green energies.
So, once you’ve spent all the energy on the alt, you can move onto the other accounts. In this way, you can make the most efficient use of account energy.
In fact, doing so can take your alt account from Level 1 to Level 60 in just one day!

The second best use for account energy is to farm high tier Insignias and Epic Shards, alongside other rewards.
Here is a breakdown of where exactly you should use account energy and for which rewards:
- Critical Conquests
- Farming Insignia and Epic Shards
- Abyss Dungeons
- Farming Insignia and Epic Shards
- Abyssal Purgatory
- Farming XP
- Void Realms
- Farming materials for crafting Void Gear
Of course, you should also use energy to complete your main and side quests if you haven’t already.
Additionally, if you plan on getting higher tier yellow gear, then you should avoid using account energy. In most cases, you can only get those as rewards by using green energy.

That’s everything you need to know for understanding account energy in Crystal of Atlan. Hopefully, you are now able to get a better grasp of this complicated system introduced in this game. By making efficient use of account energy, you can actually benefit yourself greatly. But in most cases, we recommend that you use green energy.
