    • Instead, you should replace it with Runic Barrier
  • Runic Barrier + Magic Barrier

    • Magic Barrier greatly increases the size of Runic Barrier, at the cost of no longer dealing damage and effects

    • As a Support, you will want to heal and increase your teammates DPS.

PvE Techniques

Now that you have an idea of the different PvE builds, it’s time to utilize your skill set. This is especially crucial if you’re playing the DPS build, since you’ll only be relying on yourself to dish out damage

Starting off, you need to understand how the Full Moon and New Moon marks work. At the bottom of the screen, you should see 6 marks with 3 Full Moon Marks on the left and 3 Full Moon Marks on the right.

There are three ways in which you can use this marks for the Scytheguard:

  • Full Moon Descent – Using three full moon marks
    • Provides healing
  • Dark Moon Descent – Using three new moon marks
    • Provides a damage buff
  • Dual Moon Descent – Using six stack of new and full moon marks
    • Provides a combination of damage and healing.

The level of healing and damage bonus will depend on if you activate the Moon Blade skill or not. Using Moon Blade, will only give you this bonus effects while disabling it will allow your teammates to enjoy them as well.

However, in both cases, going for Dual Moon Descent is always the best way to use the Scytheguard. This is because you get a 4% bonus to both the bonus effects.

So, from a min max point of view, you’ll be able to do more when you use all stacks. Of course, you won’t always be able to do this as different scenarios will require you to do differen

Additionally, we also recommend that you use the Soul Link skill in combat. During dungeons, you’ll more than likely spam this ability but using it properly is crucial

When you use Soul Link, any players that take damage will have an icon pop on their head. All enemies with this icon will be linked to each other. So, even if you deal damage to one of the enemies, the damage will be shared among them all.

This is very useful in PvE when you have to use skills that are single target and not AoE based. You’ll be able to use all types of abilities on mobs if they are linked.

PvP Mechanics Explained

One crucial mechanic that you need to understand for PvP is related to energy costs. Compared to PvE, your match ups with other opponents will be quite difficult.

This is because there are energy costs related to each skill that you use. So, you’ll want to be as efficient as possible with the energy you have.

Interestingly, even if you have 10 Energy left, you are still able to use moves that have Energy Costs of 60. In fact, having even a bare amount of energy allows you to use any skill before the energy runs out.

This is why we recommend that you use your Ults and Healing skills as your final skill before energy runs out. These skills have the most Energy Costs, so you’ll be able to make the most out of them.

How To Juggle

Learning to juggle is crucial in Crystal of Atlan with any class, especially in PvP where you need to make your openings count. There are various ways to juggle your opponent with abilities, which we’ll look at later in the combo section.

You can juggle your opponents by using basic attacks. However, you will only be able to juggle them for two rotations of basic attacks. After that, they will fall to the ground.

To help increase your juggles, you need to add an ability in the middle that allows you to extend the juggle. By using a skill, the rotations are reset and you can exceed the two rotation limit.

However, there is also an HP limit for juggling. After a certain amount of HP is lost by the opponent during a juggle, they will fall to the ground. So, keep in mind that you cannot juggle infinitely.

Otherwise, you will be punished!

Engages And Skill Combos

Starting off, let’s take a look at the different engages and skill combos you can do to start combat with the Scytheguard in Crystal of Atlan:

  • Soul Link + Dash (optional) + Double Basic Rotation
    • Do this if Soul Crossing is enabled
    • Use Dash only if you are far away
  • Soul Link + Dash (optional) + Whirling Leap + Double Basic Rotation
    • Use this if Soul Crossing is disabled
    • Disabling Soul Crossing gives you more energy for more skills
    • Recommended if you’re confident without extra healing
    • This combo can help you hit the first HP threshold for juggling
  • Projection + Whirling Leap
  • Projection + Whirlwind Scythe + Ancient Echoes (optional)
    • Ancient Echoes can be used to discourage opponents in case you hit the HP threshold
  • Flurry + Whirling Leap
    • Flurry can actually be held in PvP but it drains stamina for the amount of time it is held
    • You can use it defensively against opponents who engage you to counter them
