Elden Ring Nightreign: Revenant Remembrance Quest Guide & Rewards

Is it just me or does Revenant’s default skin and Remembrance skin look almost the same?

The Revenant? Oh, she’s not just another class, she’s a whole vibe. Mysterious, provides the highest utility, hits hard and honestly, one of the coolest characters you can unlock in Elden Ring: Nightreign. But I’m not gonna lie, the Remembrance questline to get her fully leveled up? It’s kinda tricky. You’ve got weird NPCs dropping cryptic hints, surprise boss fights popping up out of nowhere, and yeah, a fair bit of grind with those expedition reruns. It can definitely leave you scratching your head. That’s exactly why I put this guide together. I’ll walk you through each step of the Revenant’s Remembrance questline, from unlocking her character to grabbing her final relic and stylish outfit. Expect plenty of tips and boss strategies from someone who’s definitely died more times than they’d like to admit.

Revenant Remembrance Quest Guide & Rewards

The Revenant is a versatile and powerful class who shines in both solo and group play, even more once you’ve unlocked her complete kit. If you want her to hit her full potential (and get that slick (?) Remembrance skin and relics), you’ll need to go through her Remembrance Questline. It’s a multi-step journey that works a bit differently than your average quest.

Think of Remembrance Quests like personal progression trees for specific characters. They’re tied to backstory, power upgrades, and exclusive cosmetics or relics.

If you’re wondering how these Remembrance Quests actually work (and why they sometimes feel like a puzzle wrapped in a riddle), I’ve got a full guide where I break down all the details. Definitely give it a look if you want the full lowdown before jumping in.

Step 1: Unlocking the Revenant (SKIP If you already have Revenant Class Unlocked)

First, you’ll need to complete the Tricephalos Expedition and defeat Gladius, Beast of Night. After that, give the Old Pocket Watch to the Priestess NPC. This unlocks the Duchess, who’s important for the next steps.

Also, a quick note, you can get the Old Pocket Watch randomly (I actually got mine without beating Night 1), but if you want to guarantee it, just beat the final boss (aka the three-headed wolf). No surprises there.

Now, go to the Small Jar Bazaar NPC. If everything’s been done correctly, you should be able to buy the Besmirched Frame. Reload your game and head to the eastern section of the Roundtable Hold. There, interact with a phantom to be transported to a boss arena.

Defeat the Night Idol (Revenant) to unlock her as a playable class. Tip: Separate the phantom mobs from the Idol and ignore the giant skeleton, just dodge its beams. Wylder’s Ultimate Art helped me seal the deal.

NOTE: So here’s the scoop, you only need to unlock Duchess to grab the Besmirched Mirror and unlock Revenant. Easy, right? But heads up, to actually start Revenant’s Remembrance questline, you probably need to have defeated the first Nightlord at least once. Bonus: you can do that on any character, so no need to sweat it on Revenant specifically.

Step 2: Starting the Revenant’s Remembrance Quest

Now that you have Revenant unlocked, head to your Journal and begin Chapter 1: Remembrance.

Talk to the Duchess a few times until the option “Why did you bring me here?” appears. This unlocks dialogue with Recluse, and later the Guardian NPC. After speaking with the Guardian twice, choose “Speak of your request” to begin Revenant’s Personal Objective.

Step 3: Completing the Personal Objective (Blade of Night Fragment)

This one requires either the Tricephalos or Darkdrift Knight Expedition, but only one player can complete a personal objective per run. So if you’re in a group of three, you’ll need to do the expedition three times.

Make sure:

  • You’re playing as Revenant
  • Remembrance is active in your Journal
  • You’re the one prioritized for the objective

We ran Tricephalos three times. Holy damage works great against Gladius, equip a Godslayer Seal and use Black Flame, and don’t forget Starlight Shards for FP recovery.

Once done, you’ll get the Blade of Night Fragment.

Oh, and here’s a fun one, if anyone has beaten Tricephalos and an Earth-Shattering event is active, matchmaking for the mission to beat the beast becomes almost impossible. Unless you rest at a bed and wait for the event to cycle out, good luck finding a team. Honestly, it’s a nightmare right now. Big oof to the devs on that one.

Step 4: Small Makeup Brush & Revenant’s Chalice (Chapter 5)

Give the Fragment to the Guardian back at Roundtable Hold and exit the Remembrance to get the Small Makeup Brush relic. You’ll also unlock Chapter 5, if it’s still locked, try surviving until Day 3 in the Gaping Jaw Expedition.

Speak with the Duchess and select “Ask about the Night’s corrosion.” Find Recluse in a new part of the Hold and sit on the nearby bench to trigger the Corrosion boss fight.

Strategy for Corrosion Bossfight

Summon Revenant allies, then just kite the enemies while they explode on their own. No shame in letting AI do the heavy lifting.

After the fight, examine the doll and return through the portal. You’ll receive Revenant’s Chalice, a relic with blue, green, and white slots. And yes, the white slot is actually a wildcard, letting you equip any color relic.

Step 5: Chapter 7 – Memory Fragment, Contaminant Boss & Endgame Loot

To access Chapter 7, complete Tricephalos again as Revenant. Some say other expeditions might work, but I haven’t confirmed that myself. For this, I used Godslayer Seal + Elden Stars + Black Flame, and it destroyed Gladius.

You’ll receive a Memory Fragment, then start Chapter 7 from your Journal. Go find Recluse and sit on that suspiciously familiar bench.

Contaminant Boss Tips

This fight’s no joke. Summon allies to take aggro while you go two-handed with Revenant’s main weapon. Stay mobile and strike fast.

Defeating the boss unlocks a major cutscene, the Old Portrait Relic, and Revenant’s Remembrance Garb.

Important Tip: Healing does serious damage to the Contaminant boss, just like in Elden Ring. If you didn’t know that, consider this your “mind blown” moment. It plays like the usual Royal Revenant fight, spam that heal and watch the damage stack up. Seriously, it hits hard.

Step 6: Changing Outfits & Equipping Relics

If the new outfit doesn’t show up right away, try:

  • Reloading your game
  • Completing any expedition

Then visit the Wardrobe in the east Roundtable Hold to change outfits. You’ll also unlock the option to buy outfits for your other characters.

Equip the Old Portrait Relic at the Relic Rites Station, it fits in Blue or White slots. It’s powerful too:

  • Triggers Ghost Flame Explosions on Ultimate
  • Heals allies
  • Boosts Ultimate Charge rate when you get kills

Wrap-Up

So there you have it! The Revenant’s Remembrance Questline in Elden Ring: Nightreign is definitely a grind, especially with how matchmaking works, but the lore, boss battles, and final rewards are absolutely worth it. If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably die more times than you want to admit (no shame!), but every wipe just makes victory sweeter. Also, if you’re like me and going all-in on Nightreign, trying to knock out Wylder’s Remembrance too, we’ve got a guide for that one as well. It’s not exactly the same quest, but if you’re chasing full completion, or just curious to see where his story takes you, it’s totally worth checking out.
