If you love base-building in Enshrouded as much as I do, you’re in for a treat. The Thralls of Twilight update just landed, and it’s not just about spooky new enemies and fresh dangers lurking in the Shroud, this one’s for the builders too. Hidden across the new areas of the update are three brand-new building blocks, each with its own aesthetic, atmosphere, and tucked-away location.
Whether you’re crafting a cozy home, a haunted crypt, or a mystical temple in the mountains, these blocks add some serious style to your palette, and I’ve got the step-by-step on where to find them (with a few survival tips thrown in for good measure).
How to Get the New Blocks
The Thralls of Twilight update added 2 building blocks and 1 roof block. These aren’t just recolors or throwaway pieces. Each of these blocks brings a unique theme and vibe:
- Desert Shingles Block – rugged, weathered rooftop tiles perfect for arid builds
- Midnight Tomb Block – eerie and ancient, straight out of a gothic nightmare
- Starlight Block – my personal favorite, glowing faintly in the dark like moon-kissed stone
Let’s dive into where to find each one, and how to survive getting there.
Desert Shingles Block
Location: Sapphire Strand – West of Kindlewastes Ancient Spire
This is probably the easiest one to snag, perfect if you’re just starting your block hunt.
- From the Kindlewastes Ancient Spire, glide directly west.
- Look for a small, crumbling town called Sapphire Strand, just above the Shroud, not the first layer right below you, but the second one a bit further out.
- You’ll spot a broken bridge that connects to a small island in the Shroud. The building beside that bridge is where you’re headed.
- Climb to the rooftop and open the chest, and boom, you’ve got the Desert Shingles Block!
It’s got a weathered, sunbaked look that works beautifully in desert builds or rugged, ancient-style homes.
Midnight Tomb Block
Location: Hidden crypt – East of Balefire Stronghold Lance Point, Albaneve Summits
Now for something a little more intense.
To find this block:
- Head to Balefire Stronghold Lance Point, then go east toward the hills.
- There’s an unmarked tomb tucked away here, right near where I built my own cozy mountain cabin.
- Warning: this crypt is packed with spiders. Like, way too many spiders.
Bring a mage build or use ranged weapons to take them out from a distance. If you get hit too often, you’ll get the Hemotoxin debuff, and curing it is a pain. Trust me, I got wrecked.
- Use your Wisp Light to help navigate through the dark tunnels.
- You’ll eventually reach a giant spider boss, clear it out, grab the Spider Glands (you’ll need them for poison cures), and head into the room below.
- Inside the tomb chest is your reward: the Midnight Tomb Block, a dark, ancient-looking material perfect for creepy dungeons or gothic castles.
Starlight Block
Location: Night Sanctum – East of Albaneve Spire, near Silkfrost’s Balefire Garrison
Requirements: 1 Spark, Nighttime only
This one’s a bit trickier, but worth it. The Starlight Block glows faintly in the dark and is absolutely stunning in builds with magical or mystical vibes.
To get it:
- Start at the Albaneve Ancient Spire, glide east over a large hill into a nearby valley.
- You’ll find a Night Sanctum nestled in the valley, right beside a Flame Altar (I recommend placing one there for easy respawns).
- You must bring a Spark and enter the Sanctum at night, it only opens after dark.
- Once inside, you’re in for some fun, lava traps, spike puzzles, and timed jumps that feel straight out of an Ancient Spire.
Be careful, those traps can one-shot even high-level characters. Time your movements, sneak past the spikes, and grapple your way up the structure. Eventually, you’ll reach a chest surrounded by glowing stonework, and inside is your Starlight Block.
Bonus Tip: Biome-Specific Terrain
Okay, this one isn’t a block per se, but it’s a total game-changer for builders. With Thralls of Twilight, you can now harvest terrain materials unique to each biome:
- Revelwood: forest dirt, rubble, and earthy materials
- Nomad Highlands: dry yellow grass and cracked soil
- Albaneve Summits: frosty mountain stone
No more mismatched dirt ruining your immersion, now your builds can match the landscape perfectly. It’s such a subtle change, but it makes a massive difference when you’re trying to blend your structures into the world around them.
