Kratos has seen many deaths throughout the original God of War trilogy (and the other spin off games as well). Many of those deaths could not be prevented, and some were even caused by the hands of Kratos, further adding to his rage. But in God of War Ragnarok, Kratos has mellowed down, his rage now under his control. With a wife that loved him and a son who wants to do good, their influence pushed him to be a better man, which includes saving people. In this guide, we help save Birgir in the favor, For Vanaheim.
God of War Ragnarok – How To Reach Birgir’s Location
In order to start the For Vanaheim favor, you first need to complete the Scent of Survival favor. The quest starts after you are attacked while riding the paper boat, which leads you to where Birgir is.
Step 1: Go to Birgir’s location
Finding Birgir is easy, as his location is marked on your map. However, the tricky part is getting to Birgir.
When you reach the path that will take you to Birgir, you will see that the path is blocked. This path will remain blocked during the day, so you have to turn the day into night.
Step 2: Use the Celestial Altar
The Celestial Altar is an artifact that can be used to change the daylight of Vanaheim into nighttime. You can find it here on the map. Use the Celestial Altar to change the day into night, then go back to the entrance of the path to Birgir’s location.
Step 3: Defeat The Crimson Dread
When you make it to the area, you will not find Birgir, but The Crimson Dread instead. The same dragon that brought Kratos and his friends down from the paper boat. Defeat the dragon in order to continue.
Step 4: Find Birgir and bring him to the Mystic Gateway
Shortly after defeating The Crimson Dread, you will find Birgir hiding in a ruined corridor. You will then have to bring him to a nearby gateway, which is only a few feet away from you. Open the gateway, and Birgir will give you something in return before entering, finishing For Vanaheim.
