The highest difficulty for the challenge is Desperate, but that’s only for the normal mode. Yes, Searing Skies offers a more challenging version of the challenge called Dire Straits. This is much more difficult compared to the standard difficulties, and going in unprepared will result in a fast and swift defeat. If you’re planning on taking on the Dire Straits difficulty, then follow this Searing Skies Dire Straits guide to get a good idea on how to beat this challenge.
Searing Skies Dire Straits Guide – Genshin Impact
Before we get to the actual fight, we got some preparations to do. The enemies in are strong and challenging, but they are all Cryo Elements. You know what that means? Yes, bring Pyro’s to the fight. One of the challenges requires a Pyro, as you need to Melt or Vaporize enemies in order to complete it.
Here’s a list of the characters you should bring, categorized by Main DPS, Sub DPS, and Support.
Main DPS
- Diluc
- Klee
- Tartaglia
- Hu Tao
- Yanfei
- Yoimiya
- Ayato
Sub DPS
- Venti
- Sucrose
- Xingqiu
- Thoma
- Yelan
Support
- Barbara
- Bennett
- Zhongli
- Kokomi
Have at least two Main DPS, one Sub DPS, and one Support. With your party ready, the next step in preparation is food.
Recommended food to get is Delicious Adeptus’ Temptation. This food grants all party members a 372 boost in their ATK and CRIT Rate is increased by 12% for 300 seconds. The goal is to deal as much damage to defeat all enemies before 150 seconds, as the challenge requires you to beat it within that timeframe.
Once you have your party ready and full of food, select the Dire Straits difficulty when Searing Skies is selected. As you can see, you have to complete the challenge within 150 seconds, Melt or Vaporize 12 enemies, and defeat 6 powerful opponents. If you’ve selected your party with the recommended characters, this should be a cinch.
Once you press start, the challenge immediately starts. No countdown, just straight into the action. If you have Bennett, switch to him to trigger his Burst. This will grant any character within his Inspiration Field Pyro, which helps for all of your non-Pyro characters.
If you have Diluc or any of the other Main DPS Pyro’s, switch to them and start dealing damage in order to get the Melt or Vaporize challenge done. These enemies are just as difficult than in the normal difficulties, requiring more hits and damage in order to take them down. But if you were able to use the recommended food, then you should be fine.
Halfway to the fight, more powerful enemies will spawn in. Just keep using Pyro attacks and use Bennett’s Burst to get that boost and you should be able to defeat them easily. Always use Diluc’s Burst when it’s ready, as it will be a huge attack damage.
Once you’ve defeated most of the powerful opponents, a large ice minotaur monster will spawn in. This is the boss of the challenge, and it will be a tanky beast to take down. Still, don’t waver from the strategy. Use Bennett’s Burst, switch to Diluc to inflict Pyro damage, and use your other character’s Burst and Elemental Skills when they’re available.
If you succeed in taking down the final boss of the challenge, then you will get the Challenge Completed screen, as well as the green check marks on the side which indicates that you have successfully completed all challenges. Great job.
