The new update 4.2 for Genshin Impact has added new quests and areas for players to explore. This has brought forth a new set of challenges, which means more obstacles for fans to get past. Puzzles are a strong part of many of these quests, many of which can throw off players at times. Some of these require you to locate certain items.
As you play the new update, there may be a point where you need to use a Special Key. However, before you can use the Special Key, you will need to locate it. In this guide, we will show you the exact location of the Special Key, when you arrive at the door that it opens. Let’s dive in and locate his Special Key so that you can progress through the puzzle!
Special Key Location
During the Solve the Orthant’s puzzle objective, there will be a locked gate that you need to open to be able to solve the puzzle.
However, when you interact with the panel, you will see that there is a Special Key that you need to Open the Gate.
You will need to locate the Special Key. It can be found in the location indicated on the map below.
Now, you need to navigate to the area and solve a small puzzle. Turn left from the gate and jump down the platform.
Then, go through the doorway, where you use a portal to teleport up to the locked gate.
After that, you will be in the central chamber of Orthant’s puzzle. In this chamber, turn towards the left. You should be able to see a lift at the end of the hallway.
Go to the lift and call it. After that, use it to Go Up.
After the lift reaches the intended destination, you should see a small hallway ahead. There will be a device that you can interact with, similar to the ones that you saw when solving Orthant’s puzzle.
Go up to this device and you should see the Release option. Use the Release option to release the fluid inside.
Once you release the mechanism, go past it and continue down the hallway. You should see the Special Key floating there, with a strange device that you can interact with on the left.
We highly recommend you Investigate that device as you may need it for the puzzle ahead.
After that, you can jump up to the Special Key and take it. However, your task with the Special Key is not done yet. You still have to use it to open the locked gate and progress Orthant’s Puzzle.
Now, return to the gate by using the lift to Go Up. After that, use the portal to go back up to the portal. Interact with the locked gate now and you can use the Special Key to open it up.
Once you have opened the gate, you will see the same device that you used to get the Special Key. However, do not release the fluid inside just yet.
Instead, use the Elevator to bring it down. Select the Go Down option.
When the elevator reaches the ground, that’s when you can use the Release mechanism. This will allow you to solve this part of the Orthant’s puzzle.
However, the puzzle is not over yet, and you will need to continue to explore the area to solve it. We leave it to you to solve, now that you have gotten past the confusing point of finding the Special Key!
You will even be rewarded for your efforts for getting past the locked gate with this key.
When you use the Release mechanism, an Exquisite Chest will spawn as a reward. You can open this Chest to get the follow rewards:
- Hero’s Wit
- Lucky Dog’s Hourglass
- Adventurer’s Golden Goblet
