Grounded 2 is back and there are a bunch of interesting quests to explore and recipes to try out. At some point in the game, you’ll need to get your hands on the Soldier Ant Egg. This quest can be quite confusing because you may have come across the egg behind the shield and wondered – how am I supposed to get that? Well, that’s actually not the way to get the egg at all, and it took me a bit to realize that as well. In this guide, we’ll go over all the steps you need to follow to get the Soldier Ant Egg. Without further delay, let’s get into it!
Soldier Ant Egg Location
To get the Soldier Ant Egg, you first need to reach the relevant quest in Grounded 2. To do this, complete the Missed Connection questline that allows you to get the Hatchery recipe. Make sure to build it as well.
Without the Hatchery, you will not be able to hatch the Soldier Ant Egg and construct the buggy.
On your journey, you’ll need plenty of other materials for certain quests, such as thistle needles.
Go To Anthill
Starting off, once you have the Egg Hunt quest, you’ll see that there is a marker on the map indicating an anthill. Your goal is to make your way all the way to the anthill.
Of course, later down the line, when you do want further Red Soldier Ant Eggs, you simply need to go to any anthill.

Before you head inside, we recommend that you come prepared because there will be a bunch of Red Soldier Ants and even a tough Orb Weaver spider. If you’re playing on Normal or higher difficulty, these enemies can be quite difficult.
We recommend that you come with a shield, gear and some healing items so that you can deal with them. The shield allows you to block damage. Do not rely on parrying the ants as it is very difficult – especially for new players.
Another great strategy is to bring a bow and arrow so you can kill the ants from far. Either way, once you’re ready head inside.

Navigate To Lab
Once you enter the anthill, you’ll come across many Red Soldier Ants. While running away from them can be a viable strategy, we recommend that you kill them. This is because they can be a nuisance and can stack up on to you.
Of course, try your best not to aggro the Orb Weaver spider as that can be difficult to kill.
After you’re in the clear, start by following the wire or pipe on the ground. You’ll come across a computer and you need to take a left from there. Keep going straight until you reach a ladder.
From the ladder, go straight and wrap around, following the wire on the ground as you do.

Eventually, you’ll come across a door with green or red lights that will lead inside a lab. Inside the lab, you’ll find a Soldier Ant Egg behind a shield.

Unfortunately, you cannot grab the Soldier Ant Egg behind the shield. This part tends to confuse a lot of players, as it seems like there is some way to power off the shield. However, this is just a trick, as you’re supposed to go further deeper into the lab.
We’ll show you the exact location you need to go to in the next section.

Go Deeper Into Lab (Soldier Ant Egg Location)
To get the Soldier Ant Egg, you actually need to go past the doors behind the Soldier Ant Egg. This will take you deeper into the lab.

Be careful though, as you’ll come across plenty of other Red Soldier Ant enemies. Keep going ahead until you come across a trolley that has a bunch of Soldier Ant Eggs on it – including on the ground.
However, keep in mind that you can only pick up one Soldier Ant Egg at a time. So, quickly grab the one you want and make your way back!

Carry The Egg To Base
Your goal is to carry the Solider Ant Egg back to base. So, you will need to go back the same way you came from. This is easier said than done as you can easily drop the egg if a Red Soldier Ant or any enemy hits you.
This is why we recommended killing the Red Soldier Ants so you have an easier time bring it back.

Wrap Up
That’s everything you need to know about the Soldier Ant Egg location in Grounded 2. From here, you’ll be able to proceed with the Egg Hunt quest by hatching the egg and getting closed to making the buggy. Later on, if you ever end up needing Soldier Ant Eggs, you can just drop by the anthill again and find the eggs in the exact same spot. Just be careful of the Orb Weaver as it can easily kill you. Also, leveling up can help if you find yourself dying too easily.
