Gunfire Reborn is a first person shooter that features Chinese mythology and… animals as characters. It is also a roguelite and RPG, meaning that you can customize many different characters that you can select from. In the recent update for Gunfire Reborn, we are introduced to the newest character named Zi Xiao. This “hoot” of a character can be played if you jump in now, but how can you play him? In this guide, I will be showing you how to properly play Zi Xiao in Gunfire Reborn.
Skills
Zi Xiao has two skills that you will be using quite a lot: Astroforecast and Falling Star. For Astroforecast, you will be using this a lot as this skill summons cards. Now, it has the ability to summon different rarity of cards with blue as Normal, purple as Rare, and orange as Legendary.
How this works is that if you have a full deck full of blue cards, you will have a Normal Astrohouse. If you get an orange deck of cards, then you will have a Legendary Astrohouse. Bear in mind that you do not need to do anything to send these cards to attack your enemies. They will send themselves to your enemies. However, the next skill does use them.
Falling Star is your other hero skill that is sort of the primary skill attack. If you have a set of Normal cards, then you can activate Falling Star to rain down all cards from your deck and to the enemy. The higher the rarity, the bigger the damage. However, if you have a one Legendary card in a deck full of Normal cards, then you will have an Impure Astrohouse, which will not deal as much damage.
Talents, Ascensions, & Unique Spiritual Blessings
Like every other hero, Zi Xiao has Talents, Ascensions, and Unique Spiritual Blessings. Upgrading these will improve Zi Xia’s effectiveness in combat. Here are his Talents:
Talent | Description |
Scroll Divination | Upgrades the quality of Occult Scrolls in your inventory, without having to change their effects. Or you can reroll a scroll to equal or higher quality. |
Stellar Recovery | If your Falling Star attack does not deal damage, you will immediately get a full cooldown. |
Card Practice | After shooting 300/800/1600 cards, your shooting rate will improve to 2/4/8 cards at once. |
Concentration | When you upgrade an Ascension to level 2, the chances of upgrading will increase. |
Star Rearrangement | This will optimize the initial chance of drawing Astroaspect after you switch stages. |
In Ascensions, you will have three separate trees: Phantom Mastery, Essence Hunt, Heavenly Arm. Here are their upgrades:
Phantom Mastery
Name | Description |
Under Control | Your capacity to hold cards will increase the more you upgrade this skill. It also increases the amount of cards you can summon as well. |
Lucky Day | Your Weapon and Skill Damage will increase for every Astroaspect obtained by 10/15/20% depending on the rarity. |
Star Protection | A fully upgraded Star Protection will recover 7 Shield and start the Shield recovery process immediately when you obtain Astroaspect or consume them. |
Perfect Deck | Cards will deal more damage the more you upgrade this skill. You also get a random bonus for every Wild Astroaspect you receive. |
Mirror Hand | You can obtain Astroaspects through Astroforecast. The more you upgrade, the more Astroaspects you can get. |
Card Printer | Increases the Astroforecast capacity. |
Essence Hunt
Name | Description |
Flashing Star | Falling Star will deal more damage should you continue to upgrade this skill. At max upgrade, you can deal +60% total damage if there are empty slots, sometimes +100%. |
Heaven Strike | Falling Star will deal damage to the enemy with the highest health within the Falling Star’s radius. |
Endless Stardome | If you get the same Astrohouse as the last time, you will get an increased percent bonus damage for every slot. |
Persistence | When the probability of an Impure Arthouse is at 100%, all empty slots will be filled and the Arthouse will be cleared. |
Fate Thread | Astrohouse capacity increases as you upgrade this skill. If you get a Falling Star with an Impure Astrohouse, you will replace the lowest quality Astroaspects with Wild Astroaspects. |
Mysterious Revelation | Reduces the Falling Star cooldown when you clear an Astrohouse. The more you upgrade, the more effective the skill is. |
Heavenly Arm

Last Star | When your last bullet is fired, 1 Astroaspect will be cleared and the final bullet will be granted a special effect based on the quality of your Astroaspect. |
Bet It All | When you clear your Astrohouse, you will gain different weapon bonuses based on the quality of the Astrohouse. |
Astrological Magazine | You will get 1 Astroaspect when reloading. |
Star Spirit Blessing | Max Shield will increase with every upgrade. There is also a chance that damage you receive will not apply to you. |
Card Storm | When your shot hits an enemy (or misses if you fully upgrade this skill), you will get a chance to summon a number of cards of the same Astrohouse quality. |
Unique Spiritual Blessings
These Spiritual Blessings are different for every character, and they all have 3 unique blessings that only they can get in the Reincarnation difficulty. Here are Zi Xiao’s:
