Hogwarts Legacy: How to Use Unidentified Gear

Hogwarts Legacy is an RPG through and through. Player choices affect the game, leveling system, and crafting system, you can even build your own house and live in it. Hogwarts Legacy might be the best triple AAA RPG of 2023 so far (I say so far because we are just getting started).

Just like in some RPGs, there are gear pieces that cannot be equipped unless you do a certain condition.

In Hogwarts Legacy, those are Unidentified Gear. In this guide, we will show you how to use Unidentified Gear.

How to Use Unidentified Gear – Hogwarts Legacy

Go to the Room of Requirement and Conjure a Desk of Description

Once you get Unidentified Gear, you need to go to the Room of Requirement and conjure up a Desk of Description. This is under the Utility section of the Conjuration menu, and it costs 4 Moonstone to conjure into the Room of Requirement.

You can only have one of these in the Room of Requirement, so don’t expect to use more than one.

Once you have the Desk of Description conjured up and placed in the Room of Requirement, approach it and press and hold Square (or X on Xbox) to identify the gear.

The process is instantaneous and you will get your previously Unidentified Gear added to your inventory. There’s no cooldown, so you can use this as much as you want.
