Kaizer, also known as Kai, is one of the many Fighter heroes in Honor of Kings and has a complete kit perfectly fit for the Clash Lane role, as we’ll show you in this guide.

The Clash Lane is dangerous, after all, which is why it’s generally reserved just for physically-strong heroes. Kai is one such hero, thanks to his high damage potential, decent sustain, and high defenses. He can be quite sturdy, while also dishing out high damage to any foes!

In this guide, we’ll give you a complete guide on how to play Kai in Honor of Kings with a focus on his role in the Clash Lane.

Complete Kai Guide | Honor of Kings

Basics and Abilities

Kai Gameplay

The main reasons for playing as Kai in the Clash Lane are the fact that he has great damage and survivability. He’s a true Fighter so he can easily sustain himself while dishing out damage, which makes him ideal for the Clash Lane and jungle roles. Unlike some other Fighters, he also has decent ranged options that make him very versatile.

His biggest downside is that he has a bit of a rough start, especially compared to heroes like Dian Wei who are good from the start. He has to be careful in the early stages, focusing mostly on farming so he can steamroll the enemy team later. Basically, Kai excels late into matches, once he has gained enough Gold and Experience to solidify his build.

Kai Gameplay

With the basics covered, let’s go over his various abilities:

  • Demon Soul (Passive) – Kaizer’s basic attacks and Ability 2 deal extra damage when used on single targets.
  • Vortex Brand (Ability 1) – Your best ranged choice when playing Kai. Throw a ricochetting blade that damages enemies and applies Slow. When the blade returns to you, it restores HP and boosts your Movement and Attack Speeds.
  • Blade Tempest (Ability 2) – Kai slashes twice in front of himself, launching enemies with the second hit. Boosts the damage of your next basic attack. You also get a boost to Health Recovery, Mana Recovery, and Movement Speed when out of combat.
  • Invincible Warrior (Ultimate) – Kaizer charges up, buffing his Movement Speed, Max Health, and Physical Attack Block. He also deals damage to any nearby enemies. You should make sure that you have your Ultimate ready before getting into dangerous engagements!

Now that we know all his abilities and basic pros and cons, let’s talk about his playstyle in the Clash Lane.

Kai Gameplay

Before we go over how Kai plays in this lane, check out our macro guide for the Clash Lane.

Early into matches, you should focus primarily on farming, as we mentioned previously. Try to be careful if enemy players start approaching the Clash Lane, as you are very vulnerable during the early stages. This is mostly because Kai in Honor of Kings is overly reliant on using his Ultimate to engage other heroes. After all, it’s a complete buff to Kai’s survivability!

Similarly, Kai is also extremely vulnerable to heroes capable of applying Slow. He doesn’t have many movement options to begin with, so being slowed down can be fatal!

Your main survival aid is your Vortex Brand ability. The blade can heal you decently when returning, so make sure to use it as often as possible for extra sustain. Just avoid trying to overextend until you’ve managed to get equipment and level up. Your damage isn’t high enough in the early game for that!

Kai Gameplay

Try to manage and maintain your own minion wave while attacking enemy minions for farming. Don’t be afraid to leave the Clash Lane to hunt down camps as necessary either, you need to get Gold and Experience as fast as possible.

You should also get some good use out of Blade Tempest for knocking foes away. However, it’s also worth noting that it’s good for dodging attacks as well. Kai dashes when you use it, which can be a complete life-changer when trying to create a gap against other heroes in Honor of Kings.

Overall, you’ll want to level up and upgrade equipment quickly if you stay in Clash Lane. Once you’ve got your build set in place, you can steamroll enemies with your insane damage while using your Ultimate to stay alive!
