Live your equestrian dreams in Roblox Horse Life, where you can collect different horses, tame them, and ride them in this beautiful open world. There are a lot of horse breeds at your disposal in this game, and each of them has a specific prerequisite before you can unlock them for taming.
These prerequisites can be found in the Journal Quests menu and can range from easy to complicated tasks. In this guide, I’ll guide you through these quests and teach you how to unlock Taming for every breed in Horse Life.
Unlock Taming For Every Breed Through Journal Quests
There are 7 breeds in the game with varying difficulties in taming them. Some can be as simple as taming two of them, and others will require you to breed, harvest, or level up your horses before you can proceed.
Horses
This first one is arguably the easiest task. You just have to tame 2 Horses to finish this taming quest and start catching horses.
There are two ways you can go about this. You can use lassos or food to tame horses. You can buy lassos in the shop and it’s recommended to purchase the torn lasso because it’s cheap but will get the job done. Once you have the needed items, head outside and they will begin to spawn.
Catch them with the lasso, or use the sneak button to sneak up to a horse and feed it. The horse will accept any food so don’t worry too much about it.
Ponies
Ponies will require you to do the following:
- Tame 5 horses
- Harvest 10 forageables
- Jump over 10 obstacles
Now you already know how to tame horses. As for forageables, these are items that you can harvest; for example, you can click on a basket of apples and your horse will interact with these items. You can identify forageable items by looking for a glow. Do this 10 times to complete this quest.
You can find obstacles scattered all around the map. These will be indicated by a blue arrow; the game will flash certain messages like “Good work!” to indicate a successful jump.
Equus
To unlock the Equus, you need to do the following:
- Breed a horse 4 times
- Level up any horse’s skills 4 times
- Harvest 20 forageables
To breed a horse you need to have a mare and a stallion. Click on a horse and you will see a purple Breed button which will open the horse selection screen where you can choose from your stallions and mares.
There will be a countdown for when you can claim your foal, but for this mission, you don’t have to wait. Just start the breeding process and you’ll be fine. Do this 4 times to finish this portion of the mission.
For the next part, you can level up a horse’s strength, agility, or jump. The easiest way to do this is to equip an untrained horse to level it up faster. The easiest skill to level up will be agility. You can do this by just running around.

Bisorses
For the record, Bisorses aren’t real, but here’s how you tame them:
- Foal a horse 5 times
- Sell a horse 20 times
- Harvest 20 wooden log forageables
- Level up your horse’s strength skill 5 times
Foaling a horse is different from breeding a horse. This time you have to wait and claim the foal. You can either keep it or sell it, so all you have to do is do this 5 times. Likewise, you can speed up this cool-down by using food; a specific food will lessen the time by varying amounts.
You can sell horses that you have in your inventory or tame 20 horses and just sell them all.
As for harvesting wooden logs, you can go to the forest where these logs spawn. It takes a while to collect these logs, so just explore areas with trees and you can eventually finish this. You can also multitask because harvesting wooden logs also levels up your horse’s strength skill.
Caprines
To unlock Caprine taming, you have to do the following:
- Tame 10 Bisorse
- Level up any horse’s jump skill 10 times
- Enter the cosmetic contest at the town
- Harvest 30 Big Berry Bush forageables
Bisorse spawns in the canyons and can be aggressive, so be careful when taming these horses. As for the cosmetic contest, you don’t really have to try. Just enter any horse and match the cosmetic of the horse on stage to complete the quest. This contest will take your horse, so do not enter a prized horse.
Big Berry Bush forageables are found in the autumn area. They are more prominent in the elevated areas but relatively slowly. Do this 30 times and you will unlock taming for this breed!
Unicorn
Getting the Unicorn is pretty easy but will require you to spend some tokens. Here’s what you have to do:
- Level up any horse’s agility skill 5 times
- Equip an accessory to a horse
- Dye an accessory
Like I said earlier, just get an untrained horse and run around to level up the agility skill.
To equip an accessory, you need to have been with your horse for quite a bit to get the customization option, so spend time with your horse. Go to the Equipment store and buy any accessories there (there are other ways to get accessories but this is the easiest way).
To dye accessories, you need to buy Color Dye from the shop. Customize your horse and equip an accessory, you should see a prompt where you can pick colors.
Gargoyle
To tame the Gargoyle, you have to do the following:
- Tame 1 Unicorn
- Level up any horse’s strength skill 10 times
- Harvest 30 stone deposit foragebables
Unicorns spawn on beaches and hills. They are difficult to find, but when you do encounter one, you can use the magic lasso that you got during the unicorn quest to tame it.
To level up strength, just harvest forageables. Like before, just use untrained horses and level up the skill 10 times.
To find stone deposit forageables, go back to the autumn area where you found the Big Berry Bush forageable. These look like a pile of rocks scattered around this area. This one will be time-consuming but worth it.
