This is part of the quest where you will need to find out what actually caused the whole incident and that is why you will be on a desk with a lot of things around. You will be able to select and interact with a lot of things.
But to be able to Extract the Viable Sample is very simple.
All that you will need to do is just press on this item here. It will be the item that is on the very right bottom corner of your screen.
Then once you have selected it you will need to scroll and move with your camera all the way to the left. While going on the left you will start seeing lots of vials that you can interact with.
The vial that you are looking for here is the second from the left or the slightly orange one. So just select it while you have the previous item in your hands, or interacted with, and then press on that vial. Job done.
