Just like its decade-old predecessor The Forest, Sons of the Forest is a survival game that requires players to navigate a dangerous forest filled with mutated cannibal creatures. As players progress through the game, they encounter increasingly challenging enemies that require better weapons and equipment to defeat.

One of the first ranged weapons you can obtain in Sons of the Forest is the pistol. It’s a quick and versatile weapon that uses 9mm ammo. It can one-shot sharks on Normal Difficulty!

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process of acquiring a pistol in Sons of the Forest.

Sons Of The Forest – How To Get A Gun

Our starting point is going to be the beach close to the crash site where you start off.

To get here, follow the river down to where it meets the ocean. It’s going to take a few minutes to get here, especially if you do some exploring along the way.

The raft where the gun is located can be seen on the horizon. Beware of sharks!

Once you’re on the beach (shown in the image above), look out to the horizon and head towards the raft.

Swimming there won’t take long, but make sure to save your game beforehand (you can use a Hunting Shelter), in case you get attacked by sharks on your way there.

We suggest getting some 9mm ammo before you start. That way you can make use of the gun as soon as you loot it. You can use those menacing sharks as target practice!

If you don’t have any ammo, a bow can also help you get rid of sharks!

Keep in mind that you’ll have to find a 9mm Gun Ammo, if you haven’t by now, in order to reload the gun.
