In Farming Simulator 25, Lime is essential for field health, adding a 15% yield bonus and making sure that your crops grow at their best for up to three harvests. In this guide, I’m going to cover everything you need to know about liming your fields to boost crop yield in the game. I’ll walk you through each step, from checking which fields need lime to purchasing the right equipment, loading up on lime, and applying it efficiently.
How To Lime Fields
To see if a field needs lime, open your map by pressing ‘Escape’ and navigate to the ‘Soil Composition’ tab. Fields that require lime will be highlighted in teal. Additionally, you can enable ‘Field Info’ in the settings, which will display information whenever you approach a field, including whether it needs lime.
To spread lime, you’ll need a Lime spreader, available in the game’s store. Here’s how to get it:
- Press ‘P’ to open the store, go to the ‘Yield Improvement’ section, and select ‘Fertilizer Spreaders.’
- Look for the base game Lime spreader, priced at $45,000. This spreader operates at 11 mph and is capable of spreading both lime and fertilizer.
- To make it more efficient, consider adding capacity extensions, which allow you to carry more lime, or adding spreading discs to expand its working width up to 18 meters.
Buying Lime
Now that you have your spreader, it’s time to get some lime. Lime is available in the ‘Consumables’ section of the store:
- Lime comes in pallets or big bags, costing $450 for 2,000 liters.
- Alternatively, you can refill at a Lime station, which is accessible on most maps.
Attaching and Filling the Spreader
Back up to the lime spreader with your tractor and press ‘Q’ to attach it. Then, drive close to your purchased lime bag or pallet, and press ‘R’ to start filling the spreader. You’ll see the lime level rise on the right-hand side of the screen.
Applying Lime to Your Field
Now that you have everything ready, head to the field that needs lime. Before you start, unfold the spreader by pressing ‘X’ and activate it with ‘B.’ You’ll see the lime spreading across the field, so make sure to cover the entire area evenly. Move at a steady pace, and if you’ve added the spreading Disc extension, you’ll cover a larger area, speeding up the process.
Tip: Lime should be applied either before planting or immediately after, as applying it to growing crops may not yield results. The lime application will add a 15% yield bonus to your field, which lasts for three harvests!
Optional: Hire an AI Worker
If you prefer, you can hire an AI worker to do the spreading for you. This option can be especially helpful if you have multiple fields to cover. Once you’ve finished liming, check the map again to view the sections you’ve covered. This will make sure that you haven’t missed any spots, maximizing your yield bonus. That’s everything you need to know about adding lime to your fields in Farming Simulator 25!
