Unlocking the Floating Islands in Disney Dreamlight Valley isn’t just about reaching new spaces — it’s about adding your personal touch to vast, open areas with no limits! The “Islands in the Sky” quest is a bit of a hassle to unlock and complete, but once you’ve set foot on these islands, you won’t want to leave. Let’s break it down step by step!

Island in the Sky Quest Guide

The Islands in the Sky quest unlocks an entire new world of floating islands for you to decorate. But first, let’s soar through this guide to help you complete this new quest, which is part of the Sew Delightful update!

How to Unlock the Islands in the Sky Quest:

Before Merlin can reveal the floating islands to you, you’ll need to complete the What’s Left Behind task with the Fairy Godmother. This means you need to unlock her first (no biggie, right?). Once you finish that, Merlin will be ready to talk business.

Step 1: Talk to Merlin

Merlin is waiting for you to chat. You can find him wandering around Dreamlight Valley, or you can check his home or favorite hangout spots. Once you find him, he’ll inform you that the floating islands can now be accessed, and he’ll give you your mission: visit the Plaza Island!

Step 2: Travel to the Floating Plaza Island

Now, this is where the magic begins. You have two ways to travel to the Floating Plaza Island:

  • Fast Travel via the Map: Open your Map, navigate to the Floating Islands tab, and select the Plaza Island.
  • Wishing Well: Head to any Wishing Well in the Valley, interact with it, and select Plaza Island.

Personally, I like the map for its quick and smooth travel, but the Wishing Well method is a great alternative if you’re in the mood for some extra magic!

Step 3: Move the Dreamlight Library to the Plaza Island

Now that you’ve touched down on Plaza Island, Merlin’s got a new mission for you — it’s time to move the Dreamlight Library (aka Merlin’s house) to the floating island. Here’s how you do it:

  1. Open the Furniture Menu.
  2. Find the House category and locate the Dreamlight Library (it has a cool, stone design with a blue moon above the doorway).
  3. Place it anywhere you like on the Plaza Island.

This is where you get to be the interior designer for a floating space! Don’t worry; if you want to move it back after the quest, you can.

Step 4: Decorate the Plaza Island

Time to show off your decorating skills! Merlin asks you to place five items to give the Plaza Island some character. These can be anything from furniture to plants, or even other villager houses. You can also use trees, bushes, or rocks to fill the space — it’s all about what fits your style! Here’s how:

  1. Open the Furniture Menu.
  2. Select Merlin’s Request near the top.
  3. Choose five items and place them on the island.

Remember, this doesn’t have to be permanent. Feel free to go wild, but you can always remove everything after you’re done. After all, it’s the thought that counts!

Completing The Islands in the Sky Quest & Unlocking More Floating Islands!

Once you’ve moved the library and decorated the Plaza Island, head back to Merlin. He’ll be thrilled with your hard work, and with that, you’ll have officially completed the Islands in the Sky quest!

Now that you’ve completed the main part of the quest, you’re free to unlock more floating islands for decoration!

  • Forest Island
  • Sunlit Island
  • Frosted Island

Each island will cost 15,000 Dreamlight to unlock, so start saving up if you want to access all of them. These islands are blank canvases for all your creative ideas, whether you want to build a villain’s lair, a magical theme park, or even a cozy Winter Wonderland!

I’ll admit, when I first got my hands on Plaza Island, I went a bit wild with it. I started with some simple trees and a few floating chairs, then decided to go all out by setting up a magical display of lanterns. The best part? I could always rearrange them after I finished the quest. So, don’t stress about making it perfect on the first try!
