There’s a new Gacha game out there and it’s Limbus Company, a game developed by ProjectMoon who developed Lobotomy Corporation. Unlike their first game though this one’s a Gacha game and much like their second game Library of Ruina this one can get a bit complicated. For those who have never played any game from these developers it might get a bit confusing on how to play their games, since Limbus Company is quite different from the rest of the Gacha games out there. In this guide we’ll show you how the game goes for the beginners out there who are a bit lost.

Ultimate Beginners’ Guide For Limbus Company

Limbus Company is a Gacha game and with that in mind you’d think that there’s at least dozens of characters you can roll for in the Gacha. You’re excited at looking for those cute waifus or handsome husbandos in the game and are least excited on the grind and the RNG that will beat you up mentally. The thing is, the game only has 12 characters.

Characters, Identities and EGOs

In Limbus Company there’s 12 characters, the ones you see above and that’s it. So what do you roll for the Gacha? Weapons and Armor or something? Well yes and no. Each character in the game has multiple Identities, these Identities are have their own different set of skills and passives. So each character can have different play styles depending on their Identities. You level each Identity separately and it’s your job to find out the optimal team build.

All Identities share one thing though and that’s E.G.O. a sort of ultimate ability that you can equip to your character regardless of Identity. There’s a lot of different EGOs that you can get later on and all of them are different and require certain affinities to use. Speaking of using EGOs and affinities.

Combat

Combat is a bit more complex in Limbus Company compared to other games. After you’ve build your team you can then go to the story and do some battles. There’s combat with regular enemies and combat with Abnormalities. The combat in this game isn’t just hitting things hard until it dies, there’s coin flips, bonuses and combinations as well. In our Combat Guide we go more in-depth on how combat works in the game.

Energy and Currency

Of course it’s a Gacha game so there’s some sort of energy system so that you don’t go through and progress the game too fast, developers don’t want that, what do you think this game is a proper video game? You might know this system more as a Stamina system in other gacha games and it works the same way. You use Energy through doing story missions and when you run out you’ll have to wait for it to refill.

Although you can also turn your Energy into Enkephalin Modules which are basically keys so you can go to Mirror Dungeons which is your main way to grind in the game. You’ll unlock Mirror Dungeons in Chapter 2 and completing them will give you XP tickets to help you level characters faster.

Team Building and Affinities

Even with a limited number of characters you can only select 5 characters to go into battles, 3 if you’re doing Mirror Dungeons. That’s why it’s good to know how to create a team since each character can create different affinities, and these affinities are used to activate EGOs so it’s good to have the right characters to use EGOs. In our Team Building guide we go more in-depth on how to set proper teams.

Congratulations you now know the basics of Limbus Company, it’s a bit complex at the start but once you figure it out it’s a breeze!
