Meet Your Maker is a base building game where you can build a base to kill other players. The players go jump in your base and they try to go through it. If they die you get stuff, if they win, they get stuff, pretty simple right? Well, it can get a bit more complex since you need to learn how to make an effective base! You can’t just place a cube filled with traps and hopefully the other players trip on them.

In this guide we’ll show you how to use guards effectively in the game. So you can make sure that those pesky players don’t come out of your base alive!

How To Use Guards Correctly In Meet Your Maker

In Meet Your Maker you make a base as deadly as possible so that players can try and raid it. If they fail and die in your death traps you get resources. You can also raid other players bases and get the resources yourself.

When designing your trap-filled base you can place a number of guards. These are NPCs that do a little more than just simple traps. It takes some planning through to use the effectively, so here’s some tips on doing that!

Enforcer

The Enforcer is the basic ranged guard that you can use. They shoot at a straight line and are often squishy and easy to kill. To fix that we want to give them Armor Plating, just so it can survive more and also so the enemy will waste more ammo.

The Enforcer can be effective if placed in an area where the enemy can focus on him and not notice the traps. For example, the image above masterfully crafted through mouse and keyboard painting shows an Enforcer (E) at the end of the path. The enemy will focus on them because the Enforcer will be shooting at them. When they go forward, they have a high chance of not noticing the traps (T).

To the right of that Enforcer is another Enforcer that will shoot once the enemy goes up the ramp. Great when to jump on an enemy who thought it was only one Enforcer.

Cannonback

The Cannonback is another guard that you can use, and a lot of people underutilized. Cannonbacks lob grenades at enemies, and the grenades can roll around. So, what’s the best way to use that? By placing a Cannonback on top of a ramp tunnel.

Shown on the image above is a great example. The Cannonback will shoot grenades down and it can be difficult for enemies to deal with. Don’t forget to give the Cannonback both Armor Plates and Short Leash so that it can survive better and not wander off.

To add to the pain for anyone raiding, the room on top of that ramp has more Cannonbacks that can shoot down the ramp.

Warmonger

The Warmonger is a melee guard that slashes targets into ribbons. The best way to actually use these Warmongers is in tight 1×1 hallways in corners. This is to catch players who are trying to speedrun raids can’t go past these big behemoths until they kill them.

Another trick for the Warmonger is to set a patrol path from outside the base to the entrance. The idea is that the enemy will go into the base, encounter a Warmonger, and another one attacks from behind. The timing for the patrol needs to be right though for it to work. The mods best for the Warmonger is the Reflex Manipulation for increased attack speed and Armor Plating for survivability.

Hornet

The Hornet can be annoying to deal with specially in large closed spaces like an arena filled with traps. This guard is best used in conjuncture with other guards. The best augments for this guard is the Short Leash so that they don’t get too close. Another great augment is Armor Plating just so the enemy will waste extra ammo on them.

The image above can be hard to see but it’s basically a large trap room filled with traps and Cannonbacks. This would be a perfect place for Hornets since players will have too much to juggle to focus.

Congratulations you now know some great ways of using guards in Meet Your Maker. Now go out there and try to use those guards effectively!
