Whenever there’s a new game that’s basically a spin-off of another title like how Minecraft Legends is, you start mixing up both games more than you should and end up wondering why you’re not progressing smoothly. It’s a fun game don’t get me wrong, but there’s no harm in knowing how to actually play it. That’s exactly what we’re going to do in this guide. We’ll be giving you, the player, tips and tricks to prevent you from falling flat on your face while you’re moving around the Minecraft expanded universe!
Tips & Tricks – Minecraft Legends
There’s been a few changes to how players handle themselves in Minecraft Legends, the most obvious one is the fact that you’re unable to walk or move around without completely relying on your mount, your only source of transportation.
It’s still a familiar face at the end of the day so here’s what you can keep yourself busy with the moment the game lets you move around on your own.
Explore as soon as you can!
You can start exploring the moment you finish the expanded segment of the tutorial in the Overworld. What you should keep an eye out for at the beginning are the question marks scattered around your map as they hold either towers, fat loot, or new mounts that will help you get around easier.
You have four total mounts to work with, and two of them can fly! Perfect if you ever end up in biomes that are high above sea level.
If you do end up in a biome you’re unfamiliar with, simply open your map and hover over any empty space you can to find out more about where or what you’re currently standing on.
A good choice to make if you want to get around certain places and save exploration for later.
Gather mounts using your banner.
Looking around for mounts when underequipped never equates to a good time, especially when you have to go to places like the Jagged Peaks for the first time to get yourself the Big Beak mount. On your next hunt, you can just wave your Banner of Courage to rally the mounts that you recently left.
This makes swapping easier as you don’t have to worry about going back and forth between biomes just to tame the same thing.
Defeat smaller targets for the same outcome.
When you’re tasked with defending a village or any form of settlement, you always get a counter that reminds you of how many Piglins you need to put down. The game spawns in more Piglins than it should so go after the smaller ones and whittle down their numbers for an easier time.
Organize your army.
If you have a group of different mobs with you, you can choose to send in a certain type of mob by using the type selector on the left side of your screen when choosing to direct your mob group. That way you’ll know for sure it’s your fault whenever you send in the wrong group to liberate a village.
You’re never safe.
After you finish liberating a village it would be best to leave it fortified with some walls or defenses here and there before you continue exploring.
There’s a chance of another group of Piglins swooping right back in while you’re on the far side of the world so having a bit of protection will definitely help delay the inevitable.
Make new friends, strengthen your army.
To keep the fight going you’ll need more than just two golems made out of planks and stone. Ranged mobs like the Skeletons can be your next best friend if you can save any of their Homesteads from oncoming Piglin attacks. Remember to have different mobs to back each other up as every one of them will have certain weaknesses!
Get more Allays
Building is one thing that will never go away in Minecraft, and you need more of your Allay friends to keep up with the overwhelming demands of warfare. You can find more of them in chests scattered around the Overworld, the only thing you’ll need to open one are some Piglin keys.
Increase your mob limit
You’ll always need more hands to keep evil and other undesirables at bay. Increase your mob limit and swarm your enemy by building the Flames of Creation improvement at the Well of Fate.
Don’t worry about using more mobs during your battles, the flames get returned to you anyway so everybody’s basically doomed to fight forever until you get things right.
With these tips you’ll now have a better idea of what to prioritize in the game, now go and turn Minecraft Legends into a tower defense game while you’re at it!
