Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is finally out! It is much better than we expected but it does come with a fair amount of issues as well as a couple of new unexplained systems. One of those is the Receiver system. In this guide, we will be explaining it in detail. Let’s get started.
Receiver System Explained – Modern Warfare 2
Receivers are basically a new thing that you can add to your weapons. It adds buffs and you can play around with it. But other than that, it doesn’t do any big particular change at all.
Receivers are just a fancy name for weapons that are part of the same Weapons Platform. One of the attachments you can choose for your loadout on the gunsmith screen is called “Receiver.” But that’s not really an attachment at all.
When you choose it, it will open a screen in the Gunsmith where you can swap out receivers. There, you can choose a different weapon from their shared Weapons Platform without losing any attachments you’ve already chosen.
They can all use the same attachments and share the same progression for unlocking attachments (Weapons Platform Progression). The receiver just changes the weapon from that Weapons Platform that is getting selected attachments.
Like attachments, you don’t immediately get all weapons (receivers) from a Weapons Platform. Instead, as you level up that Weapons Platform, you’ll be able to use new weapons.
For example, the Tempus Armaments Weapons Platform starts with the M4 assault rifle. You will also be able to use the M16 AR, the 556 Icarus LMG, the FTac Racon Battle Rifle, and the FSS Hurricane SMG as you level up the Tempus Armaments Weapons Platform.
Each of these Receivers can be accessed through their respective weapon classes on the Loadout Screen or through the Gunsmith’s feature for swapping Receivers.
That’s everything you need to know about the Reciever System in Modern Warfare 2. We hope that this guide has cleared out some information that was misleading to you. Have fun choosing the best receiver!
