MultiVersus has recently had its relaunch that brought a variety of different changes and characters to the game. However, the relaunch did not have the best reception from fans – with a number of features and problems being highlighted.

There’s a lot that’s currently heading to MultiVersus. If you’re someone who particularly enjoys events in the game – boy, do we have news for you! There’s actually been a big leak of 10 New Events heading to MultiVersus in the near future. Check out our 10 New Events Leak Guide to find out more!

With that said, let’s turn our attention to Patch 1.01 in Multiversus. We’ll first go through the general changes and bug fixes brought with this patch. After that, we’ll dive into the changes made to each character.

Feel free to use the Table of Contents if you’re only interested in a specific change brought to Patch 1.01 in MultiVersus.

General Changes

  • Lowered Hit Pause on all Hits by 10% in 1v1 modes
    • This does not affect Hit Stun, only the pause that occurs when you hit an enemy
    • The change should help 1v1s look much more fast paced in MultiVersus!
  • Players can now try all Fighters in Training Mode, including Fighters they do not own
    • A great change that will allow players to try out fighters before they purchase them
    • Unfortunately, this change does not apply to variants of characters
  • Battlepass XP will now be granted after each PvP Match in addition to Events and Missions.
    • Now you can progress through our Battle Pass even faster!

If you still feel like you’re progressing through the Battlepass really slowly, we have you sorted out. Check out our How To Tier Up Fast in Battlepass Guide for the details!

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where players could not complete daily rewards in Rifts Mode
  • Fixed an issue that was impacting performance on Xbox Series X|S
    • Unfortunately, many players are reporting that performances have actually worsened on Xbox after the patch!
  • Fixed an issue where beam visual effects were occasionally invisible on PlayStation consoles
  • Fixed an issue where certain keyboard configurations would cause phantom inputs in matches
  • Fixed an issue with pause input conflicts in Training

Overall, these are welcome bug fixes that will push the game in the right direction. There are many more bug fixes in Patch 1.01, related to specific characters. We’ll look at them and more in the next section of this guide.

Character Changes

Arya

  • Dash Attack
    • Change: Reduced input buffer window for follow-up attacks

Banana Guard

  • Aerial Side Special
    • Nerf: Reduced damage to 10 from 12
  • Ground Side Special
    • Nerf: Reduced damage to 12 from 14

The changes to Banana Guard are welcome because of the extreme kill power he had – especially in relation to his side specials. He also has a very simplistic style of play. Playing him now will require much more skill.

If you still have trouble playing him, we can help you out. Check out our How to Play Banana Guard Guide so you can take advantage of all his strengths!

Bugs Bunny

  • Neutral Special
    • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue causing the Safe to hit repeatedly and rapidly in succession

This is a very welcome change as Bugs Bunny was able to pull off some insane damage with his Safe, especially in doubles. Now you won’t have to deal with that anymore in MultiVersus!

Garnet

  • Down Special
    • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where Garnet and an enemy could be frozen at the end of her Star Grab

The getting stuck glitch with Garnet was very frustrating, as it basically led to you getting destroyed by the opponent. Now Garnet mains won’t have to worry about this happening anymore!

Gizmo

  • Up Special
    • Nerf: Ally attach cooldown now begins when Gizmo detaches from his ally, instead of beginning when Gizmo attaches to his ally.

Iron Giant

  • Ground Down Attack
    • Change: Knockback angle is now more horizontal
  • Aerial Neutral Attack
    • Change: Final hit now always knocks away regardless of charge
  • Ground Side Attack
    • Nerf: Jab first hitbox is slightly smaller
  • Rage Mode Pilot Special
    • Change: Reduced strobing visual effects
  • Rage Mode Up Special
    • Nerf: Reduced final hit damage to 5 from 6

The purpose of these changes was to nerf Iron Giant as he is incredibly strong, and can chain certain sets of attacks infinitely. As a result, many players would spam with him – particularly because of the hitbox sizes and angles. These aspects are now being modified and nerfed.

However, the MultiVersus developers have acknowledged that these changes are not enough for him. This is because not all of his infinite chain move sets have been addressed.

So they have actually removed Iron Giant from the game temporarily!

They will be making additional fixes to him until they believe he is ready to be brought back to the game. According to them, these additional changes will be addressed in a future patch for MultiVersus.

Jake

  • Aerial/Ground Up Special
    • Bug Fix: Fixed some issues with game performance

Jake’s special moves have a tendency to cause game performance issues and even some hilarious glitches. So thankfully, he will not be able to break the stage anymore in MultiVersus!

Jason

  • Ground Down Special
    • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where one player would disappear when Jason grabbed two players with the sleeping bag

LeBron

  • Basketball
    • Nerf: Basketball can now only hit one time per target

Previously, there have been instances where some players would have 15 Basketballs at a time on the stage in Multiversus. However, this will not be possible anymore, which is bad news for LeBron mains!

Marvin

  • Aerial/Ground Neutral Attack
    • Bug Fix: Fixed an issue where Marvin could ring out opponents instantly due to a Side Special projectile interaction with Neutral Attack

This was a really annoying glitch that players would just be forced to accept. Thankfully, this has now been addressed.

Also, if you’re having trouble with Marvin’s complicated move set in MultiVersus, we can help you out with that too. It’s all laid out in our How To Play Marvin Guide.

Reindog

  • Aerial Side Attack
    • Change: Knockback Angle is now more horizontal
  • Aerial Up Attack
    • Change: Knockback Angle is now more horizontal

Shaggy

  • Aerial Neutral Air
    • Change: Base Knockback increased to 1700 from 1300
    • Change: Knockback Scaling increased to 14 from 13
    • Change: Knockback Angle is more horizontal
    • Change: On-Hit cancel window delayed by 10 frames

With these changes, Shaggy’s infinite combos have now been addressed. Previously, you could use the angle of the knockback to combo into an infinite Jab combo.

Paired with Shaggy’s potential high damage, it could do a lot of damage to opponents in MultiVersus.

So a very welcome change brought by Patch 1.01! Developers have also acknowledged that Shaggy might feel a bit off after these changes. They have said that these issues will be addressed in a future patch.

Steven

  • Aerial Up Attack
    • Change: Sweet spot hitbox delayed 1 frame later to match when Steven has his hands clapped together
  • Aerial Down Attack
    • Nerf: On-Hit cancel window delayed by 3 frames

Stripe

  • Aerial Down Attack
    • Buff: More downward momentum is maintained on attack start-up

Taz

  • Aerial/Ground Side Special
    • Buff: Increased damage on non-cooldown tornado final hit to 8 from 7

Wonder Woman

  • Aerial/Ground Neutral Special
    • Nerf: Added an 8 second cooldown for lasso

Wonder Woman’s lasso was extremely powerful and a lot of the community had voiced their frustration over it. Now, thankfully, there is a cooldown on the move. This will now prevent players from spamming the move in MultiVersus!
