MultiVersus recently re-launched, and they have just released the first post-launch update addressing some of the issues that players have been experiencing. On top of that, the developers have also adjusted certain characters, so things are getting slightly shaken up a bit in the current meta. In this tier list, we will try to rank the current roster from best to worst.

Best Character Tier List (Patch 1.01)

Before we begin, it should be noted that this tier list is purely subjective and is partly based on the current overall opinions of the community. Things can always change in future updates, and since it’s a fighting game, any character can be good in the right hands regardless of their placement.

With that out of the way, let’s get into the tiers starting from best going down to the worst.

MultiVersus: Best Character Tier List (Patch 1.01)

S Tier

  • Harley Quinn – Not only is she easy to learn, Harley Quinn is also just overall really good and some would even argue that she currently deserves her own solo tier.
  • Gizmo – Gizmo is just absolutely busted right now and is currently considered to be a top tier character, as long as you are comfortable utilizing his kit.
  • Joker – Joker has some good combos and some great potential for mind games with how you can cycle through cards while crouching.
  • Wonder Woman – Despite the slight adjustment to her lasso, Wonder Woman continues to be a top tier choice in the game’s current state.
  • Steven Universe – With the ability to make walls, platforms, and more, this character is pretty insane right now, especially in the right hands.
  • Banana Guard – We’ve touched on this before, but this “joke character” is hilariously broken. Despite the slight nerfs, Banana Guard is still on top.

A Tier

  • Iron Giant – After they removed his busted infinite, Iron Giant takes a bit of a hit and gets knocked out of the top tier.
  • Marvin the Martian – Marvins kit gives him a lot of zoning potential, and he can be pretty annoying to play against.
  • Bugs Bunny – Bugs has some really good moves that lend itself to certain cheesy tactics, so take advantage of him while you still can.
  • Black Adam – Easy to learn and can do some decent damage with relatively simple execution. Solid pick overall.
  • Arya Stark – She is an annoying assassin to play against, and her ability to steal faces makes her pretty unpredictable.
  • Batman – Batman has a versatile kit and, while he is outclassed by those in the upper tier, he is still a solid character.
  • Finn – Finn is a solid pick for players with an aggressive playstyle, and he has some crazy juggling potential.
  • Shaggy – As the game’s resident “Shoto” character, Shaggy will likely maintain his spot here for a long time.
  • Rick – A good Rick is annoying to play against, and one could argue that he belongs in the top tier. He’d probably be up there in this list if the ones up top weren’t as busted as they are.
  • Tom & Jerry – They are a pretty solid pick and good at zoning, but they miss out on being on the top tier because of how difficult it is to play this pair.

B Tier

  • Garnet – Garnet is not really all that bad, but she isn’t particularly great compared to some of the other bruisers either.
  • Taz – He has been greatly toned down since the game’s early days, but Taz continues to be an okay pick in the current patch.
  • Jason Voorhees – Jason can be pretty good early on, but he is painfully slow and falls off a bit against more experienced players.
  • Stripe – Stripe isn’t necessarily bad, but it can be hard to master his kit compared to other characters who can dish out more damage with less execution.
  • Superman – His aerials are pretty solid and he has decent kill potential, but he can be quite slow in his current state.
  • Reindog – Reindog is alright, and he can be a pain to fight against in a 2v2. Nothing really broken about him.
  • Morty – Aw geez, Morty is a step down from his grandad due to how much harder he is to learn. If you plan on maining him, prepare to spend a lot of time in the lab.
  • LeBron –LeBron James got nerfed” is such a wild sentence to have to type out, but that’s exactly what happened to this character in this patch. The change makes him much less favorable of a pick now.
  • Jake – Jake is alright. He’s a fairly versatile character, but he is widely considered to be pretty mid compared to the rest of the cast.

Velma

Finally, Velma gets some special treatment by having her own tier. Unfortunately, she’s just not a good choice by any means and I’m certain this is the one placement that nobody would disagree with at all.

Velma was absolutely gutted in the full release version of the game, and almost nobody even bothers to play her nowadays. Unless you really want to challenge yourself, you’re better off picking literally anyone else.

And that concludes this tier list for the current game’s patch. While you’re here, you may be interested in reading up on the upcoming events for Multiversus that were leaked recently too.
