Tips & Tricks

  • The first tip is related to Banana guards move sets. His down attack on the ground will break your opponent’s armor.
Down attack in MultiVersus

It’s important to note that if your opponent uses a lot of armor, then this move will not technically break it that easily. However, the down attack is a multi hitting attack and if timed right, can definitely eliminate your opponents armor and leave them vulnerable for other attacks.

  • Charge the up attack and use it on your opponent if you want to time them falling down.

  • Banana Guard’s buffing up lasts about 6 seconds so keep that in mind while you buff mid-battle. You can buff up anywhere on the screen, just jump away at a good distance before you do it. The best time to do this is when you ring them out which gives you a small window and before they spawn to start the clock for your buff.
  • It’s important to keep in mind that after buffing, you’re more powered up for the next six seconds. You’ll end up doing more damage and knockback than your normal stats.
Buffing in MultiVersus

Banana guard tends to already have a strong knockback move like side special. So using that move while buffed may annihilate your enemy.

  • When doing his side attack, you’ll notice that it’s three hits. However, you don’t have to do all three hits and you can cancel after two hits to dodge and catch your opponent off-guard.
  • So, if you’ve already explored the character’s move, you have noticed one where Banana Guard cries. If you cry near your enemy, it doesn’t really inflict much damage onto them and it hardly hits. The trick here is to use the cry near your ally

Crying near your ally will enrage them. You’ll notice doing this will give your ally more damage and knockback. So, that’s banana Duard’s special move for Duos. And those are the major Tips and Tricks related to Banana Guard’s moveset. Let’s move on to defeating strategies.

Strategies

  • Best Moves: As mentioned before, his side attack is extremely strong even in the air. His up special is best used on the ground and in the air as well. Both of these moves are the best approach to defeating your enemy with Banana Guard for anywhere on the battle ground.
  • Buffing: It’s important to buff up whenever possible because banana Guard is extremely powered when he’s buffed so you should take every opportunity to utilize his best skills. His Down air slam dunk is the best for when Banana Guard is buffed.

  • Additional Moves: The down special works really well while landing and also does good knockback as well. It can also kill at higher percentages. Additionally, Banana Guards charged up attack has very good potential as well and is another good option to consider when going for the kill.
Charge up in MultiVersus

Your go-to move should always be side special up because it’s a bit better than the rest, whereas down special can be used in other situations like when you’re buffed. And that’s it for the strategies, let’s proceed to some powerful combos.

Combos

  1. The best move to start off with Banana Guard is the: Side attack + cancel + two side special.
    • Your opponents might try to dodge out of the side attack but will end up moving into your side special which will just catch them off guard. If you do not want to cancel your side attack, you can do your side attack and then side special immediately after.
  2. Next, you can go for a charge up attack and then an up special that they will fall into when they’re trying to land from your up attack.
  3. You can try side attack + up attack.
  4. Also try side attack + down attack.
  5. Another one is side attack + up attack + up special.
  6. Another good combo to start off with is the side attack + double stab.

          Banana Guard’s Neutrals

          1. Besides trying to get buffed up by going far away from your opponent, you can get your opponent away from you with a side special and then immediately go for a buff up so you’re all buffed by the time they get back.
          2. Banana Guard’s neutral is essentially him just defending himself using a spear.
          3. If you wish to cover a large area around, you can use a neutral that can charge it.

This will have a good knockback. And that’s all for the neutrals, let’s move onto Perks. Also, do you want to unlock Agent Smith for free? We have a detailed guide on how you can do that!

          Perks

We’ll start with Banana Guard’s Signature Perks:

          Signature Perks

Banana Guard has two Signature perks:

          • Iron Temple
          • Icy Tears

Let’s look at Iron Temple first. The Iron Temple gives Banana Guard a large projectile Shield around himself while he works out. It does however take him some time to get fully charged.

          The iron Temple in MultiVersus

The next signature perk is Icy Tears. This makes Banana Guards tears apply Ice.

The Icy Tears perks in MultiVersus

Out of the two signature perks, the Iron Temple is a lot better because the range for Icy Tears is not the best. With Iron Temple, when you try to get buffed up the whole match, this just takes a little bit longer to get charged up. This way your opponent cannot projectile you out of it. So, if you’re far away, you have the time and cannot be shot out of it. Next, for Side perks.

SIDE NOTE: Make sure to check out our Best Setting Guide for MultiVersus as well!

          Side Perks

          Side Perks include:

          • Protective Momentum
          • Sturdy Dodger
          • Purest Motivation
          • Speed Force Assist
          • Airwalker
          • Armor Killer
          • Pugilist
          • Static Electricity

Banana Guards tend to be on the ground a lot for various of its attacks like running with the spear, stabbing with the spear. So, this side perk called Protective Momentum helps when you’re running on the ground in the same direction for 0.5 seconds

          Protective momentum perk in MultiVersus

It says you gain a protective shield while running on the ground in the same direction for 0.5 seconds. Therefore, getting the projectile shield and using it throughout the match can be really helpful.

The next one is Sturdy Dodger which isn’t needed unless you’re playing Duos. Purest Motivation is best for damage boost. With Banana Guard’s high damage boost, this will add an extra flair. Speed Force Assist gives you more speed, a 5% increased base movement speed, to be specific.

          Speed force assist in MultiVersus

One of the new Perks is called Airwalker. This is the perk that spawns a platform beneath you when you’re doing a neutral dodge in the air. It’s perfect for when you want to get away from opponents temporarily where they can’t reach you so you can have time to buff.

          Airwalker perk in MultiVersus

The only downside to this is that it uses half of your dodge meter but with Banana guard, you’t be dodging as much as you use offense for this specific character.

Some other perks include Armor Killer, Pugilist, Static Electricity. These are more fun to use especially since Banana Guard is also strong and already has strong attacks.

Armor Killer for instance, if you use a triple hit spear move towards an enemy trying to use armor, this will stop them from using that armor. Pugilist simply increases damage and that makes it perfect because it leaves you overpowered with a character like Banana Guard.

So, to conclude perks, the most helpful ones for Banana Guard specifically are The Iron Temple, Protective Momentum, Air Walker and Pugilist
