MultiVersus has been in the spotlight for quite a while now, although not necessarily for good reasons. Many players have had a range of issues with the game, not to mention the criticism regarding its progression and monetization. As a result, they have been demanding changes from the developers.

It seems that the community’s wishes have come true! There has been a recent update from the developers on all the new changes coming to the game. This includes changes addressing issues – alongside new features. Let’s dive in and break down what these changes are!

New Update Addresses All Issues + New Features

If you didn’t know yet, there has been a new patch recently to MultiVersus. This patch brought a lot of changes, although it did cause some other issues. Additionally, it did not address all the problems that players had. You can see all of this for yourself in our All Changes in Patch 1.01 Guide.

Now that you have the necessary context, it’s time we dive into the update from the developers, Player First Games. These changes were outlined by them on their main X (Twitter) account. We’ll be going through each of these changes and features one by one.

Feel free to use the Table of Contents if there’s a specific change that you’re interested in for MultiVersus.

Addressing Xbox Performance Issues and Infinite Combos

  • Improving Xbox performance
    • The recent Patch 1.01 worsened the issues on Xbox
    • This means that luckily Xbox issues will finally be addressed for good!
  • Lowering match desync rates
    • Players have been complaining that match stability has not been on par
    • This should ensure that players will not face the annoying desync notifications as much
  • Removal of some gameplay loops that has little counterplay
    • Many fighters, in particular Shaggy, has infinite combos that could be spammed without any punishment
    • Removal of these combos should ensure fairer matches and encourage skill.

The developers have said that a patch is on the way soon to fix these problems.

If you’re facing infinite combos in MultiVersus, particularly from spammers, we understand how frustrated you must be. Check out our How To Deal With Spammers Guide to be able to counter them!

New Features (Under Testing)

Player First Games have also revealed that there are some important features they have been testing for MultiVersus. These are features that a lot of the community have been asking for. They are the following:

  • Spectator in Custom Games
    • This feature should help out online MultiVersus tournaments quite a bit
  • Free For All Queue
    • Many players are excited for this game mode, because of the chaos and variation it begins
    • It will likely be a battle royale style mode
  • Setting to Swap Neutral and Forward Attacks
    • Should give players more options when configuring their controller
  • Setting to Turn Off Team Colors
    • A much requested feature since team colors would mess with the MultiVersus fighters design
  • Setting to Adjust Input Buffers
    • An exceptional feature that should allow players to modify how they can execute combos
    • Some players have complained that certain combos or dash attacks are unreliable because of the current input buffer
  • End of Game Stats
  • Allowing Players To Keep Their Party Together When Going From PvP to Rifts/PvE (and back again)
    • A quality of life change that should reduce the annoyance of having to constantly break and remake parties when changing modes
  • Replay Button for Rifts/PvE to Immediately Begin a Node Again
    • Another quality of life change that should save some time when playing Rifts in MultiVersus
  • Dedicated Neutral Dodge Button Setting
    • Many players are looking forward to setting this to R2
    • It will make parrying a lot easier, our How To Parry Guide can also help you out!
  • Camera Adjustments for 1v1 Matches
    • Will allow you to zoom out the camera if you feel the default is too close
    • May also allow you to change the dynamic camera settings
  • Ranked Mode
    • Probably the most requested mode from the community
    • A huge step in ensuring players remain interested in MultiVersus
    • The developers have said they’ve taken their time with this to ensure the balance is right

These changes will be released as they become available, since they are still under testing. Also, with the Ranked Mode news, you may want to practice with the best characters in MultiVersus. Our Best Character Tier List can help you out with that!

Battle Pass Progression Changes

The current battlepass progression has come under much scrutiny from the MultiVersus community. Many have complained that it forces players towards microtransactions, which cheapens the experience.

Luckily, the MultiVersus developers are making major changes to it. Players will now receive more Battlepass XP for playing PvP matches. Here are the XP changes:

  • Win Battlepass XP increased from 10 XP to 50 XP
  • Loss Battlepass XP increased from 5 XP to 25 XP

A big win for players that should ensure they can finally unlock the battlepass quickly. You might also want to check out our How To Tier Up Fast in Battlepass Guide, for additional tips!

PvE Rift Adjustments and Balances

Last, but not least, the MultiVersus developers have made some final commitments that are expected to arrive in Season 2. Here are the changes:

  • Access to PvE Rifts Rewards without being forced to play co-op (it will get you there faster with co-op)
    • Now you will be able to get any rewards you want without having to depend on a friend
  • Fighters will continue to be tuned and balanced for a fairer experience
    • With Ranked Mode on the horizon, it is only right that all fighters are as balanced as possible.

And with that, we have looked at all the changes that are coming to MultiVersus. While we do not have a date yet, we can expect the priority changes and features to start rolling in soon!
