PC ports tend to have a lot more issues compared to console ports. Whether it’s because the developers did a poor job in optimizing the game for PC, or it’s because your PC can’t handle it, thus leading to you spending a couple of hundred dollars on upgrading your system to play a game (PC master race, everyone). Sometimes though, there may be something going on with the game itself that requires a bit of tweaking. In this guide, we will help you fix your issues with NieR: Automata on PC.
Fix Black Screen, Fatal Crash, Infinite Loading & More – NieR: Automata
Having issues with a game that was released a long time ago is very infuriating. You would think that after years, all of the issues on the game would be fixed. But that’s not how it works.
There are some games out there that have been out for much longer, yet are still plagued with issues that make the most of them unplayable.
NieR: Automata is not one of those games, but it does have issues that make it unplayable for some.
Here are some ways to fix those issues on PC:
Restart your PC
This should always be your first solution when trying to fix games.
Restarting your PC pretty much resets everything, so anything that might be messing with the game will stop and allow the game to start after reset.
Verify the integrity of game files
This action can only be done on Steam. To do this, click on the gear icon on the game’s page (or right-click on the game itself) and then click on Properties.
A new window will pop up. On the new window, click on Local Files and you should see the “Verify integrity of game files” option. This will take a few minutes to finish depending on the hardware of your PC.
Run the game as Administrator.
Sometimes, games run into some hiccups when launching because your PC doesn’t really recognize the program that’s running.
To bypass anything and give the game higher prioritization on your PC, you will need to find your game folder and look for the executable file. Right-click on it and click on Run as Administrator.
Run the game in Windows Compatibility mode.
This option is also present when you right-click on the executable and click on Properties. You should be able to see the Compatibility tab.
Click on it and there should be a box for Compatibility mode. This requires a bit of tweaking to see which compatibility mode works better.
Other solutions
Other solutions include updating the graphics driver, updating Windows, and reinstalling the game overall.
