Building a base is a crucial aspect of Once Human when it comes to survival. Not only does it serve as your safe house, but it contains many of the Facilities that you’ll need to farm materials and create tools. As a result, you want it to be as well optimized as possible.

In this guide, we’ll show you some base building tricks to get Infinite Materials and Energy Links. We’ll also show you how you can optimize all aspects of your base. Let’s get into it!

Base building can feel a bit complicated at the start in Once Human. If you are struggling to build a basic base in the game, we can help you out.

Check out our Best Base Building Guide that’ll teach how to build a base from scratch. We strongly suggest you check this guide first, before diving into the current one.

Now, let’s see how you can turn that base into an even better one, which provides you with near infinite materials and energy links. If you’re only interested in a specific aspect of the base, feel free to use the Table of Contents.

Wiring Tips

Starting off, we’ll be looking at a way in which you can make your wiring much cleaner. For starters, we recommend that you connect all the facilities and units that you have in your base with each other.

Most people tend to connect their facilities individually with power sources. However, with this method you can first get all the facilities connected together.

After that, you can also connect your power sources together, such as Power Panels. Once they’re connected, have their wires be fed into a Pylon. The Pylon can then power all the facilities that you connected in your base.

This will help your base look much cleaner. You can also Hide Wires in Build Mode by pressing the L button to make it look even better.

Oil, Fuel and Water Production

Oil, Fuel and Water are all key aspects that you need at your base for pretty much every single function in the game. To be able to get these, you’ll be using the ground Water Pump in Once Human.

You can find this blueprint in the Build Menu. The Water Pump will essentially pump out water from below the ground. But did you know you can also pump other materials?

For example, if you build the Water Pump near cities or oil fields, you’ll pump out Polluted Water. Similarly, if you place the Water Pump on black ground, you’ll actually get oil.

So, we recommend that you have some Water Pumps on black ground. This will allow you to get Barreled Crude Oil from the ground without you having to do anything.

All you need to do is simply take this Barreled Crude Oil and put it into a Refinery. Here, you’ll be able to convert it into Portable Mixed Oil.

As a result, you’ve gotten a very easy reliable farm for fuel and oil that does not require much effort from you in Once Human.

Similarly, you should also set up your Water Pumps to get Polluted Water. You can then feed off this Polluted Water into a Water Tank using a simple water pump. This Polluted Water can then be fed into an Osmosis Water Purifier.

At this purifier, this dirty water is converted into clean Water and Impure Acid. Additionally, this Impure Acid can be converted into Acid at a Brewing Barrel.

So, in this way, you are able to reliably farm Acid and Water, giving you a near infinite amount of it. You’ll never run out of oil, fuel and water in Once Human!

Power and Deviant Trick

Now, let’s turn our attention to another essential aspect of your base which is Power. You can make power in a variety of ways. We recommend that you use Advanced Hydraulic Generators, as they can make a lot of power.

We recommend that you fulfill the power needs of your Facilities before your Deviants. While getting Power to Deviants does make them happier, they can still function without Power.

However, there is a way in which you can boost the water production even faster. This is by using the Electric Eel Deviant.

By placing this Deviant at Generators, you can boost the power production. As a result, you will not have to worry about running out of power. But keep in mind that you can only place one Eel on one Generator.

Eels can be captured randomly when you are fishing. You can take advantage of fishing events to increase your chances of getting it.

Farming Tips

Farming plants is another essential aspect of Once Human. You’ll want to set up a farm as your base so that you can grow Flowers, Wheats and other essential plants. However, traditional farming can require a lot of your attention.

There is a Deviant you can use that can make Farming much more convenient for you. This is the Growshroom Deviant.

All you need to do is give the Growshroom some Seeds, and it will take care of the rest! It will not only plant the seeds automatically for you in your Planters, but also accelerate crop growth.

So, all you need to do is set up an irrigation system and you’ll be able to get all the Plants you need. We recommend you grow a lot of Wheat, as you can convert it into Stardust Malt Ale Beer at the Brewing Barrel.

You can find Growshroom Deviants at a random chance when you pick up Mushrooms in Once Human. Our How To Get Growshroom Deviant Guide can also help you out. It’ll show you some great locations to farm mushrooms.

While not necessary, you should also get your hands on a Buzzy Bee Deviant. They have a chance to mutate your crops, which will make them more potent. Additionally, they also water your plants automatically.

You can find this Deviant at the farmland near Deadsville in the Dayton Wetlands region of Once Human. Our How To Get Buzzy Bee Deviant Guide has all the details!

Infinite Memetics Points

The Memetics tech tree is a vital component of Once Human. It enables you to get new technology and Facilities that you’ll use to progress the game.

However, there is a way in which you can get Infinite Memetics Points. The method for this involves first purchasing an upgrade that you want. In our case, we got an Advanced Synthesis Bench.

After that, we build a couple of them, or as much as needed. When we did not need them anymore, we simply refunded them. You can do the same for any Facilities that you do not need anymore.

You can then use these Points for other upgrades, which you can then refund after you do not need them. As a result, you basically have infinite Memetics Points in Once Human.

Base Defense Tips

Finally, we’ll touch upon some tips for defending this powerful base you’ve built in Once Human. With the infinite Memetics points method we showed you, eventually you’ll want to get an Ascension Tower.

The Ascension Tower can allow you to protect your base during Extractor Events, where you Purify Cortex for Starchrom. It has a set up for multiple turrets that can take care of both flying and ground enemies.

You can also beef up this defense by setting up sandbags and various traps.
