Best Shrapnel Build SOCR Guide
In this guide, we’ll cover the best method or build to increase shrapnel in your Scar. This guide includes:

Understanding the Basics of SOCR
Let’s go over to Blueprint, then go over to any weapon that has a buff on it. Then, right click the weapon and click on Details.
Hover over the keyword and click X. You should see a full list of buffs in the game.
For the Shrapnel Scar: When you hit an enemy, it deals 50% weapon DMG attack to a random unhit part of your enemy. Additionally, if you’re further away, the shrapnel will do less damage. It will take shrapnel damage you have and multiply it with 0.5x or 50%.
If you have 500 damage, it will add 250 DMG more, for instance. You can find your shrapnel damage bonus in your inventory.
You’ll find that the scar has a 30% shrapnel DMG bonus along with a shrapnel crit DMG bonus which is only for shrapnel. This does not mean it’s going to go to your actual crit.
If we go over and read the description for Scar, you’ll see that it has a 4% chance to trigger shrapnel.
Additionally crit hits count as two hits and crit hits grant Shrapnel trigger chance +1 for 1s. This just means that it’ll trigger more shrapnel as you make a crit hit.
Build for your Scar
The accessories for the SOCR gun are:
- Purple Light Rifle Mag
- Tactical Laser sight
- Compact Reflex sight
- Hammer Compensator
Gear
- The Beret Helmet
The Beret Helmet gives you a +1 Shrapnel Hit. If you have this beret helmet equipped then during a critical hit, you’ll have +3 shrapnel hits and without a crit hit, you’ll have 1. If you didn’t have the helmet equipped, you’d only make a single shrapnel hit.
- Cage Helmet Frag
The Cage Helmet frag has the same functions as the beret helmet where it triggers a +1 in shrapnel hit. So, if you don’t have the beret, this is a good alternative. In fact, the cage helmet frag is a better option because the Beret helmet has less HP and PSI Intensity than the Cage Helmet.
The function of the Scar used to be a little different before since the devs forgot to make some changes. Scar wasn’t based on chance to trigger shrapnel instead it was based on hits. So if you’d fire it, every four shots your gun would trigger shrapnel and crit would also count as hits. Therefore, if you wore the cage helmet, the shrapnel would be triggered every three hits instead of four.
But that’s not the case anymore. Now let’s look at some good mods you can equip to maximize your shrapnel.
Mods
- Helmet Mod
For the helmet, you can use the Momentum Up mod with a fire rate of +8% for the 50% of the magazine and weapon dmg +25% for the next 50%. Which means, the first time you shoot it, it will have an increase in fire rate for the first half and an increase in damage for the second half.
Another Mod that you can use for the Helmet is the Fateful strike with its Crit Rate 10%. It would’ve been perfect if it wasn’t lacking in weak spot damage because your shrapnel will not do weak spot damage. You will however do more DMG because you are making more crits and hitting more shrapnel, as a result.
- Mask Mod
A good mod for your mask is the Cranage Precision. With this mod, your shrapnels will try to hit the weak spot, which is usually the head by 80%. Additionally, shrapnel weak spot damage is increased by 20%.
- Scar Mod
For your scar, use the Obliterate mod . Your crit rate for the shrapnel will increase by 1%. For the substeps, go for weapon damage crit damage and status damage reduce.
- Gloves Mod
For a mod for the gloves, use the Crit DMG Boost – Violent. A higher crit rate is important for the gun because as mentioned before, if you crit, you hit three shrapnels instead of two or one.
- Shoes Mod
A good shoes mod is Slow and Steady where you get +8% melee weapon dmg (on gold it will be +10%). You also get status dmg and when your HP is above 90%, you get another 8%/10% weapon DMG.
- Bottom mods
For the bottoms, get Munition Amplifier- Precision for weapon damage. Weapon damage would be the best in this scenario because you can stack it. And since it’s 50% on your scar, that makes it a considerable amount.
Cradle
For Cradle buffs, we recommend using:
- Automatic Weapon enhancement: this increases damage +20% when using rifles. After hitting a weak spot, status dmg becomes +25% for 3 seconds.
- Deviation master: You can summon a deviant and while it is summoned, it does 50% more damage. This one is not that efficient and only works if you’re doing PvE. Otherwise you may not want to waste your deviant energy.
- Tactical Combo: This is one of the important ones because it increases weapon damage by +25% for 4 seconds after switching weapons and reloading.
- Deadly Combo: After hitting a weak spot with bullet effects (bounce and shrapnel) bullet effect damage increases by +25% for 3 seconds. This means your shrapnel will doabout 25% more damage once it hits the weak spot .
- Bullet Hunt: After killing a target with ranged weapons, shrapnel dmg +35% for 15s. This one is a must if you’re using shrapnel.
If you have the Recurve Crossbow, you can use it to mark enemies and defeat them. Then, you can use the Bounty Hunter buff in the Cradle.
- Bounty Hunter: After defeating a marked enemy, weapon DMG +25%, weak spot DMG +35% lasting for 15s.

How to obtain Scar
To obtain the Scar, all you need to do is:
- Press G on the Wish Machine for the Blueprint shop
- Look for Scar’s Blueprint which is in the rifles.
- You can buy Scar for 8000
Another method to get the Scar is to roll it from the Echoes from the rift.
There are definitely better guns than the Scar like the MP7 which has a higher DPS rate. To compare the two, MP7 shoots 60 bullets and scar will shoot 5 bullets in the same duration. This might unfortunately mean you’ll lose a battle against MP7 if you’re not extremely skilled and careful.
