So, in this guide, we’ll help you understand everything you need to know related to building a Shrapnel Guide. We’ll also show you which items you need to select for the Shrapnel Build to work. Let’s get into it!

It’s important to keep in mind that it is possible to improve the Shrapnel build we are showing in this Once Human guide. Our goal here is to help you understand what aspects to target when making the best possible Shrapnel build.

Weapon Choice
Starting off, you’ll want the right weapon choice for the Shrapnel Build. You’re looking for a Weapon that triggers the Shrapnel effect in the Weapon Features.
Arguably the best weapon for this build in Once Human is SOCR – The Last Valor.
If you’re still confused by what Shrapnel exactly is, you can click on it in the Weapon Features. This will open the Keywords menu which shows the exact description of Shrapnel.
In essence, Shrapnel allows you to deal damage to a random unhit part of the enemy’s body. This additional damage can Crit and hit Weak Spots.

Calibration and Upgrading
Now that you’ve selected the weapon for the Shrapnel build, it’s time to upgrade and calibrate it. You can do all of this in the Advanced Gear Workbench.
When you interact with it, you want to go to the Weapon Crafting tab at the top. Here, you should select the Weapon you want to upgrade.
After that, your goal should be to get it all the way to Tier V for the best stats possible in Once Human.
Additionally, you also want to Calibrate the mods that you have on this Weapon. For this, select the Calibration tab at the top.
In the Calibration menu, you can add Calibrations for your Weapon all the way to 10. Adding Calibrations will allow you to get additional stats.
You get the first boost after +4 Calibrations, the second after +7 Calibrations, and the third for +10 Calibrations.
However, you can actually replace these Calibration Attributes if you don’t like them. You can then place whatever Blueprint you have on hand.
Ideally, for a Shrapnel build, you want to have attributes that focus on Crit Rate, Crit Dmg and Weapon Dmg.
You can actually get additional Blueprints by going to the Disassembly Bench. Here, you can dismantle weapons that you found on the ground and get various blueprints.
Once you get the right blueprints, be sure to replace them for the best Calibration Attributes possible for the Shrapnel Build in Once Human.
Recommended Stats
Before we dive deep into the rest of the Shrapnel Build, it is important to understand which Stats you want to target in Once Human.
You can see the stats for your Weapon by going into the Details option when you’re looking at it in your Inventory.
Over here, you want to focus especially on Crit Rate, Crit Dmg and Weapon Dmg. This is because these Stats will provide you the best DPS when Shrapnel triggers. The other stats can certainly help, but they will not have as much of a factor.
Make sure to have your Weapon out in your hands when you look at the stats. Keeping it holstered will reduce your Stats.
Recommended Mods
Now, let’s dive into the Mods that you should be using for your Weapons and Armor. Basically, you want to get Mods that benefit you the most in terms of the three Stats that we looked at above in Once Human.
First up, we have the Weapon Mod choice. We recommend that you use the Shrapnel Souvenir – Violent Weapon Mod.
This Weapon Mod will ensure that you never have to reload when you’re firing your Weapon. This is because it automatically refills one bullet when the Shrapnel hits a Weak Spot.
Keep in mind that you’ll need to hit anywhere besides the head for this effect to trigger. This is because if you hit the Head, which is a Weak Spot, the shrapnel will hit non Weak Spots. As a result, the effect will not trigger.
You can get this Weapon Mod by fighting the Shadow Hound on Hard difficulty at the Monolith (Level 50).
If you aren’t high enough level for this, you can also do this boss at any difficulty. However, the chances of the mod dropping will be reduced.
Next, we’ll be looking at the Armor Mods that you should select. Again, you have a lot of wiggle room here, as long as you choose ones that benefit the Shrapnel Stats. But, we’ll show you the ones that benefited us a lot.
Here are the Armor Mods we recommended for the Best Shrapnel Guide in Once Human:
- Shrapnel Carnage – Precision (Mask)
- Shrapnel Weak Spot Hit Weight +100%
- Shrapnel Weak Spot DMG +25%
- Fateful Strike (Helmet)
- Cannot Deal Weak Spot DMG (Weak Spot effects will still trigger, only bonus DMG will be removed!)
- Crit Rate +8%
- Crit DMG +25%
- Crit Boost – Violent (Gloves)
- Crit Rate +15%
- Secluded Strike – Violent (Shoes)
- Having no enemies within 7 meters around you grants +15% Weapon and Status DMG
- Crit Rate Enhancement (All Armor)
- Crit Rate +2%
- Crit DMG +12%
- Deadshot – Talents (Bottoms)
- Each Crit Hit by non-melee weapon grants +4% Crit Dmg, up to 36%
- Effect is removed by reloading (which is unnecessary due to the Weapon Mod)
As you can see, all of these Mods complement each other or the Weapon Mod we selected. They will all compound to cause a lot of DPS when the Shrapnel effect triggers in Once Human.
You can obtain these Armor Mods from Silos all across the Once Human map. Simply hover your cursor above a Silo and you’ll be able to see the types of Armor Mods you can get.
You’ll need to grind these to be able to get the mods you need. Additionally, increasing the difficulty to Level 50 will increase the chances of you getting higher Rarity Mods.
Mod Enhancement
Once you have the Mods you need for the Best Shrapnel Build in Once Human, you also want to focus on Enhancing them.
You can do this by hovering your cursor over a Mod in your Mods Inventory. After that, right click on the Mod and this will open the Enhancement Menu.
Here you can enhance your Mods so that you can increase the stat boosts that they provide. You can Enhance them using Weapon Mod Parts.
Keep in mind that each enhancement will increase a random Attribute’s Rarity. Ideally, you want the Attributes to increase that will impact the Stats we discussed for the Shrapnel effect.

Armor Set Bonuses
Another aspect that a lot of players fail to take into consideration are Armor Set Bonuses. You actually get stat bonuses for the specific Armor that you are wearing, which are separate from the Mods.
Additionally, you get bonus stat boosts for the number of Armor Pieces you are wearing of a specific set in Once Human.
There are various types of Armor Sets you can use for the Shrapnel Build. Here are the Armor Sets we recommend for the best Shrapnel Build:

- Falcon Set.
All of these Armor Sets help Weapon DMG, Crit Rate and Crit DMG in various ways.

Cooking
Cooking is actually a crucial part of the Shrapnel build in Once Human. This is because recipes can provide some crucial stat boosts, especially the higher rarity ones.
You can check the Stat Boosts that recipes provide by going to the Stove and seeing all the recipes there. For the Best Shrapnel Build, we suggest that you cook Canned Meat.
This is because you get increased Shrapnel DMG by 20% when you consume Canned Meat for 30 minutes. So be sure to cook a lot of this and store it with you in bulk! You can then consume it whenever you’re going for a fight.

Deviations
Certain Deviants in Once Human also give you boosts and options in Combat. Utilizing these Deviants is a great way to enhance your Shrapnel Build.
In particular, we recommend that you get the Lonewolf’s Whisper Deviant. Among other abilities, this Deviant increases your Weapon DMG by 21.6%.
You can obtain this Deviant by defeating the Shadow Hound Boss in Once Human.
Ammo Type
The type of ammo that you use is also a crucial aspect of your Shrapnel Guide. You can craft a variety of different ammo when you access the Advanced Supplies Workbench in Once Human.
A great ammo type for the Best Shrapnel Build is Disintegrating Rifle AP Ammo X60. Once you have selected it, be sure to change the source to Electronic Part in the Self Selection option.
When you do so, the stats of this Ammo will change and become the Smart Rifle AP Ammo X60. As you can see, now this Ammo will increase your Attack by 10% for 3 seconds when the Shrapnel effect is triggered.
You also get 15% additional DMG per shot.
Cradle
Finally, we have the Cradle where you can enhance your abilities in Once Human. You can find the Cradles menu by selecting the Memetics Cradle tab in your Inventory.
Over here, there are certain upgrades that you’ll want to target for the Shrapnel Builds. Here are some of them:

Secondary Weapon
