Your territory plays a vital role in Once Human, housing a lot of essential builds and structures for your survival. It also serves as a relative safe house compared to the dangers of the outside world. But you may feel that the territory is not big enough as you progress through the game?

If you want to expand or upgrade your base territory, we’ve got you covered with that. In this guide, we’ll show you all the steps you need to follow to increase the range. Without further delay, let’s get into it!

How To Upgrade Base Territory

When you enter your base territory, you’ll be able to make out the borders by the translucent white lines at the edge. Initially, the base territory size is restricted to 14.4, but you will be able to increase it.

This can be an issue as you progress through the game and add a lot of builds as it can cause your base to become cramped. Expanding will allow you to keep building things on it without worry. To upgrade your Base Territory in Once Human, here are the steps that you’ll need to follow:

  1. Unlock the Territory Expansion upgrade from your Memetics tech tree
  2. Find the Territory Terminal in your base
  3. Select the Territory Upgrade option with the H key
  4. Confirm the Level Up option to upgrade your Base Territory.

Unlock Territory Expansion Upgrade

Starting off, you’ll need to first obtain the Territory Expansion upgrade. You can do this from the Memetics tech tree if you are familiar with it. If not, we’ll guide you through the process.

Press the I button to bring up the Once Human menu. Here, you should select the Memetics Cradle tab at the top of the menu. Over here, select the large Memetics option that you’ll see on the left side of the menu.

Once you’re in the Memetics menu, select the Building tab at the top. This will open up the Building tech tree. Scroll all the way to the bottom until you reach the 03 Ascendance section. Here, you’ll be able to find the Territory Expansion upgrade. Once you get it, you can proceed with the next step.

Interact With The Territory Terminal

Once you have the Territory Expansion upgrade in Once Human, now you’ll need to locate the Territory Terminal. You’ll be able to find it around the center of your Base Territory. When you approach the Territory Terminal, you’ll see a variety of different options there. Select the Territory Upgrade one, which you can do with your H key.

In some cases, this option will not come up if you have your friends near you in your territory. So, if such an issue occurs, try to do the upgrade without your friends in the base region. This will allow you to get past this problem.

Confirm Level Up

After you select the Territory Upgrade option, you’ll see a prompt that asks you to confirm your base territory upgrade. Press F to confirm the Level Up and your base territory will upgrade in front of your eyes.

Now, the size of your territory in Once Human will be 32.4 yards compared to the previous 14.4. You can check the borders of your base territory and see that they have expanded.

To craft your builds, you will need some essential tools. One such tool is the Bronze Pickaxe which will allow you to farm better materials in Once Human. Check out our How To Craft Bronze Pickaxe Guide so you can get the better pickaxe!
