The Ascension update for Phasmophobia is finally here and everyone is excited to level up fast because equipments are locked behind the levels. For the next few games, you will be stuck with the stinky smudge stick and flashlight. And if you can’t wait to try out the new equipment, keep reading for one of the cheesiest methods to grind for XPs in the game.

How To Level Up Fast

The first and most obbious method is to do the Challenge that’s available every week. They provide the largest money bonus in the game and if you’re going to do this trick, you’re probably going to need them. Mainly because the chances of dying is never zero.

Unfortunately, if you have challenges in Prison and other large maps like this, it’s highly likely you’ll spend way too long in these places.

Not saying they’re impossible, but sometimes they are because the ghost can hunt from all the way across the map. Or they can be spending way too much time not giving enough interactions to give themselves off.

But you can use the same trick with the next grinding method which has been officially dubbed the cheesiest of the cheesiest method.

  • Camp Woodwind
  • Use the following settings:

  • Hide behind the picnic table with two smudge sticks
  • A friend will help with Banshee (and bringing in more items for the hunt)
  • Don’t die

The trick here is to rely on the table because it blocks the ghost’s sight of you. At the same time, you can have a somewhat clear view of the ghost while it’s hunting.

Most ghosts in Phasmophobia have very obvious behaviors when hunting and it definitely takes experience to be able to tell them apart in one hunt. Foggy weather also makes it a lot easier to see without a flashlight.

The things you must pay attention during a hunt are footsteps and blinking speed. Just from footsteps alone, you can tell apart half of the ghost which depends on the environment.

For example, a Hantu has a fixed speed that gets faster the colder the room temperature. While a Raiju becomes fast only around electronic equipment.

Do note that you don’t always get the ghost right with this method. The key here is to get in, get a hunt, and get out. If you can figure out a Revenant in one hunt, you’re lucky.

If you get a normal speed ghost which can be anything between a Goryo, Onryo, Banshee, or Spirit, make a guess and move on.

With enough luck, you might get a Revenant like I did. It gets even better if you can do all the other objectives. But some objectives can be hard with fast ghosts which was why I didn’t take the chance.

Because not dying is better than risking it as you’ll lose all the multipliers. On top of that, at level 1 you don’t have smudge sticks so you cannot always risk looping the ghost.

Correct ghost type is worth $2694. Every objective is worth $300. But with the wrong ghost type, it’s worth $150. And most of the time, you’ll find yourself in a situation as below. You can get the EMF objective with a turned on EMF laying around for it they do an interaction or event.

And that’s the latest way to level up fast in Phasmophobia for the Ascension update!
