Final Story: The Purple Key
To get the Purple Onion or Jewel in Pikmin 4, you must clear the last stage of the Trial of the Sage Leaf. Read on to know how to get the purple onion and the effects of having it!
Capture the Purple Jewel
The Purple Onion is a reward for completing the final stage of the Trial of the Sage Leaf, which is an end-game content. The trial can be unlocked after finishing the main story and rescuing Olimar.
Start the quest by talking to the Sage Leaf. It is recommended that you bring with you at least 10 Ice Pikmins, as you will need them during this quest.
Enter the small hole and proceed to the area with the water bulb. Throw your ice Pikmins into it to freeze it. It will then explode, and you will get Ice Pikmins. These Pikmins will help you later on.
Once again, throw your Ice Pikmins into this purple flower to obtain more Ice Pikmins. After successfully doing that, you’ll get Purple Pikmins as well.
Drop from Oatchi and enter this steel gate, then throw the Ice Pikmins to the water bulb to free more Purple Pikmins. Make sure to pluck the Purple Pikmins close to the gate as well.
Gather and throw your Purple Pikmins to this bag to flatten it.
After flattening the bag, you need to defeat this Arctic Cannon Larva. You can throw your Purple Pikmins here to kill it.
Interact with this purple plant near the Larva to free and obtain more Purple Pikmins.
Gather and throw your Ice Pikmins toward this contraption to destroy it.
Jump on the ledge and go inside the tube with your Pikmins to proceed to the next room.
You will find the Purple Onion here, have your Purple Pikmins gather and let them carry the onion.
In order to proceed, you need to defeat the Waterwraith. You need to throw your Purple Pikmins first, as they are the only ones who can damage it when it’s translucent. Additionally, you can throw your Ice Pikmins when the Waterwraith is dark/opaque.
Once defeated, you can now flatten the bag and proceed to the next room.
Finish off the Bulborb Larvas, Fiery Blowhogs and Snowy Blowhogs on the next room to open the gate. You can now ride Oatchi again!
Proceed to the gate after you’ve finished off the enemies. Oatchi can also help you defeat them.
Throw your Ice Pikmins on the dried leaves to destroy them.
Flatten the bag and let the Purple Pikmins keep carrying the Purple Onion. Go towards your Space Ship to finish the quest.
Obtaining the Purple Onion will allow you to produce these Purple Pikmins. Collect pellets and return them to base to produce them.
