In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there are three types of Main Quest; Gym leaders on Victory Road, Titan Pokemon on Path of Legends, and Team Star Leaders in Starfall Street. There are areas on the map that you cannot pass through due to some of these.

For example, for your Miraidon or Koraidon to learn how to swim, you must defeat a Titan Pokemon. Another is you cannot reach the northern half of Pladea if you do not defeat Team Star’s Dark or Fire Crews.
