When playing RDR2 you will get a certain set of challenges that you can complete. One of these is the Master Hunter challenge. You will be set with a couple of tasks to complete and one of the hardest is the cougar challenge. That is why in this guide we will be giving you complete information on how to complete it without breaking a sweat. Let’s get started.

There are 2 ways of how you can get the most amount of Cougars to spawn and you to be actually able to actually skin them and kill them with a bow. Just before doing this challenge make sure to have these with you:
- Bow
- Poison Arrow
- Predator Bait
These are the most important things that you will need. The first is to complete the challenge, and the second is to actually not die when doing it.
First Method Of Cougar Hunting
You will need to be following the path that is shown in the picture above. As you can see, you will actually need to be going alongside the road either coming from the north or from the south that is directly right and east of the Trapper.
Once you get to the highlighted circle you will trigger an automatic event that will always show. This will be a Cougar attacking a random NPC, but sometimes it can be attacking you. Be prepared for this attack and you will be all right.
Once you get the Cougar killed, make sure to Skin it and then take the body to the Trapper to sell the body. If the body is left on the ground it won’t spawn another Cougar until it decomposes.
After this, just head a little bit off to the south or to the north of this Cougar location and open up your Tent. Now just go to sleep as much as you can and just come back to this same location and repeat until you complete the challenge. If the Cougar does not spawn, restart your game and try sleeping then.
Second Method Of Cougar Hunting
If you do not want to sleep, we recommend taking your horse and just fast-traveling to Annesburg and to the northeast side of the map. Until you get here some time will pass as if you would have slept.
When you get here, get to the highlighted positions above, and then just drop a Predator Bait. There is a big chance of a Cougar Spawning in these locations if you did not previously spot one before. We recommend going from the north to the south on these marks.
Once you complete all of these you will most definitely find 2-3 Cougars and might even get a Perfect Pelt. Now just fast-travel back to the First Method location and you can repeat the process. A whole load of Cougars is incoming!
