Picture this: you get home from work and you’re excited to start the new Resident Evil 4 Remake demo that was released a couple of days ago. You are only able to play it now because you’re finally off from work for the weekend and you get to kick back and relax. You boot up your gaming PC and start up Steam. You click the big green Play on the demo and then… nothing. Just a black screen, a crash, and even infinite loading. Sucks, right? Don’t worry, we’ll help you fix that issue.

How to Fix the Demo
If your PC doesn’t meet the recommended specs for the game, then we already know the problem is your PC. It means that it’s time for an upgrade. However, if your PC does meet the recommended specs, and even goes beyond it thanks to your RTX 4090 and i9 13th gen processor, then you can do the following methods:
- Restart your PC.
- Verify Integrity of Demo Files.
- To do this, you need to click on the gear icon > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of demo files… to begin the process. It will take a couple of minutes, depending on your PC.
- Launch the game from the installation folder.
- Run the game as Administrator.
- To do this, right click on the game and click on Run as Administrator.
- Run the game in Windows Compatibility mode.
- To do this, right click on the game file in your installation folder > click on Properties > select the Compatibility tab > check the box under Compatibility mode. You will need to experiment with different options to get the right one.
- Update graphics driver.
- Update Windows.
- Reinstall the game.
If all of these don’t work, then I do recommend reinstalling Windows as a whole. Some games don’t work because the OS might be plagued with malware and such, and some of those suckers are hard to get rid of. The only way to thoroughly get rid of them is by doing a clean install of Windows again. If you haven’t done a clean install of Windows in a while (like a year or two), then maybe it’s time to do it.
