The latest Risk of Rain 2 DLC named Survivors of the Void has undoubtedly made things more challenging, and now each player needs to learn about the new items, bosses, locations, and whatnot. But these challenges have certainly revamped the game a bit and made it more enjoyable.
The latest boss added to the DLC is one of the toughest we have encountered so far, and it’s infamous for its three phases and multiple attacks. In this short guide, we’ll show you how you can defeat it and unlock the Void Fiend survivor as a result.
How To Unlock Void Fiend and Defeat The Final Crab Boss | Risk of Rain 2
The Void Fiend
Before we begin, let’s do a little backstory about the「V??oid Fiend』.
This survivor is an eldritch mutant capable of taking advantage of the Void as the weapon. When battling, its power amplifies until it reaches a climax and releases its total energy to the enemies.
In addition to this, here are the Void Fiend’s stats:
Health | 110 (+33 per level) |
Health Regeneration | 1/s (+0.2 per level) |
Damage | 12 (+2.4 per level) |
Speed | 7 m/s |
Armor | 0 |
The Voidling
Voidling is a boss that you need to defeat to unlock the Void Fiend. You can face it once you reach the Planetarium, an alternate final stage introduced in the latest DLC.
To access it, you’ll need to clear all the Deep Void Signals inside the Void Locus first or by petting the Froggy (glass frog) found on Commencement 10 times. Take a look at our guide on finding the glass frog.
Also, here are the bosses stats:
Health | 2000 (+600 per level) |
Damage | 15 (+3 per level) |
Speed | 45 m/s |
Armor | 20 |
As we previously mentioned, this is by far the most brutal boss we have encountered ever in Risk of Rain 2, and to defeat it, you’ll need to learn more about it first.
Strategy
Overall, there are three phases, and you’ll encounter plenty of Lemurians and Imps that are assisting the Voidling.
Although there is no magic formula for defeating this boss, here are some great tips that will certainly allow you to beat it.
- Target the Eye
First, make sure to always go for its eye so that you can deal the maximum damage. Use your sniper rifle for that.
- Evasion Tactics
You can evade his projectiles without issues since they are very sluggish. Once he starts shooting lasers, find a cover and stay there until it stops. It would be best if you did the same thing once he rotates since he’ll shoot an enormous laser beam at you.
- Know when to Run!
Lastly, you should run away once he unleashes the black hole that sucks everything inside.
Fighting this boss requires lots of platforming, jumping, and accuracy, and you can consider yourself very lucky if you defeat this boss on the first try.
Once you do, you’ll receive the “Escape the Planetarium” achievement as a reward, and unlock the Void Fiend as well.
Good luck!
