Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm has its flaws. A lot of them, actually, but the new content is ironically not among them. With the DLC came three new survivors, including the False Son. In this guide, we will be showing you a quick and simple method to complete the Stare Them Down challenge and unlock the False Son’s other special ability.

“Stare Them Down” Challenge Guide

Simply put, the “Stare Them Down” challenge requires you to get 15 kills with a single activation of Laser of the Father. It’s a fairly straightforward challenge, but if you want to complete it easily, use the following artifacts:

  • Artifact of Swarms – Doubles the spawns for enemies. Very handy.
  • Artifact of Glass – Drastically lowers your health but gives you 5x more damage.
  • Artifact of Kin – Optional, but will make stacking enemies easier.

If you are unsure of how to get these artifacts, check out our handy guide on how to unlock all of them. It’s fairly old, but it still rings true.

The plan is simple. Just rush for the teleporter and then activate it as soon as possible. Once that’s done, stack up enemies in a large clump and then just fully charge Laser of the Father.

With a fully charged special you have a few seconds to wave your laser around and hopefully kill at least 15 enemies. It should be noted that charging up does not increase the duration, so stacking mobs is crucial.

That’s pretty much it. You’ll get notified if you were successful, so if the strategy failed, just fire up another run and try again!

ROR2 Seekers of the Storm player getting the challenge done

Ideally, you want to have Kin on and have only beetles spawn for the safest run. You could probably do it with Lemurians too, though you’ll need to dodge a lot of projectiles while stacking them up.

Other than that, just playing normally can get you the achievement as well. As long as you can snowball with some decent items, you should be able to passively get it done, especially after a loop or two.
